First time posting. Rising sophomore son was accepted to 2020 Summer STEM camp, and after originally canceling for Covid, today they announced the camp will be offered online. initial thought was to accept their offer for priority admission in next years session but now feel conflicted. The online camp means hours in front of a computer screen for 5 days and missing football training in July.
Anyone else in this situation, or anyone with thoughts whether it’s worth it? We really wanted the on campus experience to inspire son to pursue USNA admissions in 2023.

All depends on your son’s level of interest in USNA. Even if it was typical STEM, it should be up to him — not you — whether to attend over football. Mids that drop tend to be ones doing it for others rather than for themselves. Not saying that’s the case for your son, but a bell goes off when I read “we really wanted...to inspire son...”

As an alternative, there’s also NASS and CVW available in a couple years. And he has one more shot at STEM. DD attended STEM and NASS, and had CVW drags as a plebe. She said they’re all worthy experiences, so can’t go wrong either way.

Now that it's online, I wonder if they tell people if they've been denied as well? I was hoping to receive word about summer STEM so I know whether or not my resume (so far) was decent enough.

Don't let a denial to STEM discourage you AT ALL! My DD was waitlisted in 8th grade and a no into 9th and 10th grade, but did get into Summer Seminar. It's especially tough if you live any states around Maryland....
