VA State nominations

I received a nomination from Warner but Webb does not notify applicants of nomination until the first week of Feb. Do you know if Congressman Wolf uses principal nomination or if he just ranks them?

Good to hear! Wolf, as well as the other two senators, sends a slate of 10 names, unranked, to West Point.

Just a question...does a MOC's office only send a letter to you if you earn a nomination? Or do they send letters notifying your non-receipt of a nomination as well?

Congressman Wolf's office said they would send out letters to all candidates they interviewed... I didn't receive a letter from Wolf today also... idk why its taking so long

Yea I didn't either. That's why I was concerned, haha.

I'm assuming it should come tomorrow if it didn't come today.

The letters came today (for Frank Wolf's nomination) and...I got the nomination! So that's two out of the four I applied for.

Congrats...2 noms from VA MOCs are amazing. You must have a great resume.

Any News?

Has anyone from VA received an appointment from West Point or has anyone been placed on the NWL from a MOC nomination? I think West Point may be waiting until Senator Webb reports his slate, but I could be wrong.

There are a few who have received appointment from VA, but they most likely have LoA's. Those without LoA's...I'm not really sure, although I am assuming that West Point is waiting for Senator Webb's slate as well.

I think people are confusing apptmts and noms on top of how apptmts are charged.

The SA's take it one slate at a time. Highest WCS wins the apptmt. They do not wait for every MOC's slate tp be submitted before dolling out apptmts, especially since a state like VA is known to be competitive and not every candidate will be on all of the slates that are available.

Webb, has until Jan 31st to submit his slate. If Warner submitted back in Nov it will have no bearing on when apptmts from Warner's are given just because Webb has yet to submit his. Just like Connolly's slate can appt a candidate prior to either sen. regardless if the Sens slates have been submitted. Key word appoint...not charge...2 different things.

That being said before everyone freaks out...the bulk of the apptmts come out in MARCH, that is why it is called the Mass Mailing. No notice is not necessarily bad news.

Don't freak until the third week of March, hang tight until that time.

Has anyone received a nomination from Senator Webb yet? I haven't received a letter from his office stating whether I was nominated or not.

Peter,

DS got a call from his MALO and his portal shows the nomination(Jan 30), but we have not received a letter yet from Senator Webb. We are Va-11.

I know how hard the waiting is...hang in there and good luck!!

Congratulations! I figured I'm not going to receive the nomination anyway. I already have two MOC nominations from VA so the MOC's probably want to share the love to other candidates as well.

According to Major Tolman, one of the 10 people nominated by Senator Warner has been offered appointment. I don't know about Webb, but the person being appointed off Congressman Frank Wolf's slot will be decided probably next month.

DS's nomination is from Senator Webb and he has an appointment. That was his only nominating source for USMA.

I knew that, but thought that there could have been others on the slate that could have been appointed before DS. Whichever way it worked, we are very thankful!

From a VT alum, best of luck to you Peter :thumb:

Any new appointees from the state of Virginia yet? I heard they're still deciding on who will take the nomination slot for Congressman Frank Wolf (at least for USMA).
