My son is getting the yellow fever and typhoid vaccines next week, we did not know that we needed to go to a travel clinic and that our insurance did not cover them. It will cost us $360 dollars approximately. I am attaching a link where you can find a clinic close to you.

Are they not given for free before Sea Year anyways?
I do not know about that, but they are required by Admissions before my son shows up for Indoc. And he needs to send the paperwork before April, Friday 15th

My son got the same letter for USMMA. If you look at page 2 of the letter that came with the form ( paragraphs “I”and “J”) that although Typhoid IM and Yellow Fever were highly recommended (as well as influenza) they would be administered at the Academy prior to sea duty. My interpretation is that those vaccinations are not required by April 15 or by reporting, only for sea duty / year. They do list a phone number on the letter for questions and I would call the Academy before you go to too much trouble or expense. Congratulations and good luck to your son!

Same info for me. I got email response. The only ones that are required are listed as such and the others are "highly recommended" but will be given there prior to sea year if necessary. The only ones we had to take action on were the TdaP booster (they require them more often at USMMA) and the Hep A vaccines. We could only get the first in series for Hep A, but they said that would do for now. Nurse to contact was RN Edith Morabito morabitoe@usmma.edu.

Thank you all!!! I just went over the paperwork and the email, the two are on the required ones paperwork, but also they are recommended haha He will wait until the Academy administer it. Congratulations to all of you as well and see you soon!

Granted this was a long time ago, but I don't recall having any extra vaccines before Plebe year. . . but before sea year, we got nailed. Everything from the plague on up. Still have (and use) my vaccination record.

When is the vaccination paperwork due? I'm out of town until April 17th so I don't exactly have access to my BFE or doctor at the moment.

If you accepted your appointment they will mail you the paperwork. So that depends on when you accepted yours.
