I was under the impression that they save these noms for the very end, once the NWL and other appointments are solidified.

Are you sure it was an actual vp nomination yo USNA? Everyone who applies gets a letter acknowledging that you applied. As stated in the previous email the academies usually you these at the end of the process, not the early phase. Does the vp nomination show on your DD USNA portal?

Thanks for your replies. It was a letter from the USNA saying she had received a VP nom. Our DD decided the Navy wasn't for her, and it was early in the process, so the Navy portal didn't become the central part of our lives like the ASAFA site has become! As a result, we don't know if that nom was reflected on the Navy Portal.
But your comments are consistent with our thinking; the Candidates learn of their VP nom status in the ~Feb time frame. The Navy communication must have been an outlier.

I sent in my application for one back in June - been anxiously waiting ever since! I was born and raised outside the US, so I don't have a congressman or senator. The VP is my only shot!
