Unbelievable. Our son got the call yesterday afternoon. He has been wait listed since April. We are all very excited and there is so much to do with only 1 day to prepare. Anchors aweigh.
First of all congratualtions! Your wild ride has begun.
Each year the cycle of parents and applicants asking questions of how to apply to USNA continues. As participants on this forum we provide advice based on our average experiences and the general knowledge/rules as we know them. Your post just shows that there are rules and then there are exceptions to those rules. Your DS just won the lotto, tell him to go for it and don't look back.
TWE received today. We did figure that by Induction Day last week it was not going to happen though. Thankful that her Area BGO Coordinator did a great job in keeping her in the loop these last few weeks. We are very grateful for their communication and encouragement. Our DD does consider it an honor to have been considered for so long. She is looking forward to the next chapter in her life. She does plan to reapply too.
I (momma) wanted to thank the BGO and parents etc. on this Forum. Applying to a Service Academy is unique. Maybe especially more so for a family like us where no one has ever done so.
