Congrats to you all that just cleared the Waitlist. Parents, don't forget to join the 2020 Parents Facebook Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/USCGA2020Parents/
Do you think there will be any more or are most spots already given from the waitlist?Congrats to you all that just cleared the Waitlist. Parents, don't forget to join the 2020 Parents Facebook Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/USCGA2020Parents/
That is a great question! Objee had more communication on this subject last year. Last year, it looks liks around May 20th the main round of waitlist offers was finished with only the conditional offers left as a possibility for beginning of June.Do you think there will be any more or are most spots already given from the waitlist?
DS was placed on EA waitlist with ACT score of Math: 34, English 32, Reading 26, Science 29 and a composite of 30. Writing was a 29.To those on the wait list, if you took the ACT exam. What was your score?
- good to see positive news on the waitlist after it has been so quiet for a week!!Proud to say that my DD received a call off the waitlist this evening and will be reporting in to the USCGA in June. She is overwhelmed with emotion as this is her dream. We are so proud! Best of luck to all of you still waiting! We will continue to send good thoughts that you get a call soon!
It seems this is an unusual exception and like Nextgeneration, I am guessing that a skill was needed that was not available from the current waitlist.post: 490166, member: 27551"]Congrats to lombco, TXHopeful, and matthew4325!!!
Have you read the "I'm confused" thread? I'm confused, too. I would have thought scholars were deemed strong candidates who would benefit from another year of academic preparation, whereas waitlisters were deemed strong enough academically but there was not room in the current class. I'm confused as to how a scholar was appointed when there are still many people on the waitlist. I guess there was no one left on the waitlist who matched those specific needs at the academy? I understand that I have a DD and the confused OP sounds like a DS, but I know there are other waitlisted DSs as well.
I truly believe everything I've previously posted - that DD will be a better cadet and a more mature officer if she waits another year - but April was still a long month and the last eleven days of sharing others' joy while not hearing any good news ourselves has been pretty tough...
There is still hope is absolutely right. My DD kept saying that and she was calmer than I was during this process. It was the longest 4 1/2 months but she never waivered. In her new letter, it did state that this year is one of the most selective classes in history so, maybe confused had a skill they needed to fit as someone suggested. Either way, I am sending good thoughts and hoping you all get that call.It seems this is an unusual exception and like Nextgeneration, I am guessing that a skill was needed that was not available from the current waitlist.
Those left on the waitlist are getting a taste of what it is like to be a late round NFL draft pick. Just when they think their number will be called, they skip to someone further down the list.
I am sure a few candidates felt the same during RA when EA waitlisters started to be called.
Still the waitlist being closed email has not been sent so there is some chance that more will be called before it is all over for 2020.
Thanks Chuck20, So weary of worrying and waiting. It looks like yesterday May 15th was the deadline for conditionals (submitting waivers or DoDMERB qualification) based on the dates currently shown on the CGA Admissions page. So assuming there are some conditional appointments that did not make it and that the AO convene a board in near term to review we should hear some more news soon.
Good luck to all that are with my DS still waiting.
