Waiters ....this thread is for you

NROTC scholarship to Embry Riddle Daytona direct into Aerospace Engineering.

NROTC scholarship to Embry Riddle Daytona direct into Aerospace Engineering.
My DS also received the 4-year NROTC scholarship & acceptance to Embry Riddle - Daytona!! Plan B is all set!! Good luck to you!

Congrats! Both of my brothers go to ERAU. One is on Navy scholarship and other is getting masters degree in robotic engineering. It is an excellent school for engineering (undoubtedly one of the best for Aerospace) and their NROTC program is outstanding. PM me if you want more information and I can get you in contact with one of my brothers if either of you would like!
My DS was accepted, but with all the scholarships he has and money we have saved, it's still a huge stretch. Still hoping for an appointment, if not, a state university is his path. The waiting is absolute torture for this mom.

I highly suggest reaching out to their office of financial aid. My oldest brother (not on navy scholarship) was in the same situation and their office is really good about finding ways to make ends meet. ie: after still coming up short on tuition before he went, he reached out to them and they made him write a small essay on why he wants to go and that went to a review board where they gave him additional scholarship money.

My son worked hard on Plan B, ROTC, at several schools while waiting. Plan A came through last week, but he’s glad he worked on other options in the meantime.

The wait is nerve racking. My DD checks everyday twice a day while I search this forum for an answer that isn't there. Im pretty impressed by her throughout this process. She has NROTC, AFROTC and an appointment to USAFA but hasn't made a commitment until she receives final word from USNA. I look forward to a long exhale and the knowledge of where she will be heading after her June graduation.
Best of luck all! Reading this forum helps keep our sanity.

Same, waiting and waiting

looking at last years waiting/CPR thread around this date, things dont look too good for 90% of us. but we are holding out a thread of hope for the best, yet prepared DS for the worst. which actually isnt that bad. good luck this week everybody! DS is in good company with some amazing kids here.

We need to pass the time somehow. Let’s be positive! Anybody want to say what colleges that have been accepted to so we can see how many awesome kids there are here ?!?! I’m regularly impressed by the caliber of people in this forum. It’s not easy to even be in this situation. Everyone is exceptional. What’s your plan b or c?
My son's plan B2- is full ride to CCU or University of SC, B-1 ROTC Seton Hall, ROTC Purdue, B-3 he wants to enlist
I will need a spa day this process has been exciting yet nail biting
You want all our kids to get in but the reality is they all will not

Probably a dumb question here, but do we know if the Secretary of the Navy has made his recommendations for Appointment yet?

Thread name: "Waiters ....this thread is for you". Your son is USNA appointed. Thanks for rubbing it in for everyone CPR

Nobody is rubbing anything in.

DS was DQed by 2 academies and waitlisted to another. He also lost an ROTC scholarship within a day of winning it.

He knows what it is like fail.

It doesn’t work quite like that, assuming you might be referring to nominations.

The Superintendent at USNA likely has the designated authority to choose which qualified applicants, who may or may not have noms from other sources, will be those charged to the handful of SECNAV category nominations for their appointments. This can happen anytime during an admissions cycle, though I suspect that these are carefully husbanded until near the end.

All offers of appointment are issued on the behalf of SECNAV, starting with the first ones coming out in 2018.

Congratulations to your son and your family.

If I may ask, how did your son lose his ROTC Scholarship? I ask because my son is a waiter but has an ROTC Scholarship to a top west coast school.

Do you mean for those applying from the enlisted ranks who have a nomination from SECNAV? My DS is one of those, and he is still waiting, as are several of his shipmates at Nuclear Power School. Hang in there! You'll know by the 15th.

So you choose to quote a post that is a month old in order to be a whiner? You’ve got 4 posts and two of them are immature and offensive. I’m not sure that you belong here. Please check the attitude before posting anymore on the forums.
