Waiting for Remedial results

Hello everybody I hope you all are doing well,

I would like to share my concern regarding my remedial submission. Please share your thoughts if you are going through a similar situation.

I submitted my AMI's at the beginning of March, and I am still waiting to hear back from DoDMERB. I understand that DoDMERB's faculty is teleworking and that I need to be extra patient, but I can't resist thinking that DoDMERB probably reviewed my records within the last 3 weeks. All in all, I am assuming that if the Naval Academy wanted to grant me a waiver, they would have contacted me by now since April 15th is around the corner. (There is a low chance that I will be medically qualified because I was prescribed Vyvanse for ADHD when I was 13. However, I haven't taken the medication in 6 years). So I have a feeling the only way I could get into the USNA is through a waiver, hence why I am concerned.

I would post this in DoDMERB thread... there is a section for just DoDMERB related topics... also, there is a gentleman, Mr. MullenLE that is ALL THINGS DoDMERB... if you had something specific for him; I am sure he would be helpful. :) Good luck.

I was in a similar situation last year. I had already medically DQd and submitted the AMI's requested by the waiver office (via DoDMERB), but didn't know if the paperwork would even make it to their office by April 15. I ended up getting an LOA near the end of March, and a waiver shortly after April 15. However, I don't know whether admissions considers an application differently if a waiver is pending as opposed to waiting for a ruling from DoDMERB on Med DQ or not.

All of the initial communication I received about waivers came from DoDMERB, not USNA, and the request for a waiver is automatic.

As long as you've double checked that all the paperwork made it to DoDMERB for review, I don't think there's much you can do except wait. USNA admissions still has ~20 days, which I know feels really soon, but it's still enough time for these things to get sorted out. I hope it works out for you!

Awesome thanks for letting me know! I will go ahead and do that :)

Wow that must have been extremely exciting for you. That gives me some hope. The day after I submitted my remedial, I got an email from my assigned technician saying they received it and it will take them 15 business days for processing. Its been a little over 15 buisness days, but I will continue waiting. Thanks for the support!

Hello friend!

I also was prescribed medication for ADHD earlier in my teen years and it has proven quite the hurdle in the process of being medically qualified. I was medically DQed by DoDMERB because of it, and am currently waiting to hear back about the waiver as April 15th draws near. Best of luck to you!

VigilantMissourian - comply with the FAST thread under the DoDMERB tab. I’m going to be replying on Sat morning and then again Sat night

It definitely has been an obstacle. Best of luck to you as well!!

As you enter the military, you'll find out it's NOT an OBSTACLE, it is a TASK, CONDITIONS, and STANDARD.

TASK - Clean your room.
CONDITIONS: Here's a vacuum cleaner; cleaning supplies; and DEODORIZER. :wiggle:

STANDARDS: Room is cleaned to "Mom's" satisfaction....(not objective, but Mom's are exempt from OBJECTIVITY!)

Made contact. Issues resolved :wiggle:
