Waiting game begins

Our DS was contacted by his Regional Counselor to set up the interview with his FFR. It was set up via email and conducted in person.

I would have him contact his Regional Commander to ask about the interview. Apparently an interview needs to be done by a FFR, which is new this year, and not all FFRs were notified about it. It isn't on the portal as a prompt and it seems inconsistent as to how candidates are finding out that they need one. Many candidates on here (my DS included) had interviews done at SLE but were told that they needed a FFR also.
that's interesting. I don't understand why that would be if they passed at SLE and received documentation that they passed. I will have him reach out. thank you

I think it was one of the many changes that were made "mid-stream" this year (another being the elimination of class rank in favor of GPA). The FFRs were not all notified of the interview changes from what I have gathered by reading comments on here. DS's FFR didn't respond initially to his interview request because he saw that he had had one at SLE.

What is FFR? Is that WP Liaison Officer? My son has emailed and called a few times over the past 6 months and never gotten a reply.

thanks

I know FFR = Field Force Rep. I have not heard my DS refer to a WP Liason Officer, only his RC - Regional Commander.

My son received an LOE and went for an overnight visit. His application is complete except for he needs to redo his pushups video because you couldn’t see his feet the entire time. No one has ever mentioned an interview. Should he contact someone and ask? I thought I read somewhere that WP only interviewed if you received a nomination. Thanks for the clarification.

If I have interpreted correctly, it appears there is a new requirement this year to have an interview with the FFR or a designated person. My understanding from discussion with DS that the interview is not in his portal but his interviewer turned in paperwork upon completion of the interview. That’s for USMA. I believe the BGO interview is part of the USNA portal. I’d reach out to either your FFR or WP Admissions for clarification if unsure.

Nope. My son was interviewed by his USMA Liaison Officer back in November prior to his nomination interviews. She had contacted my son via his application email to schedule the interview, location, etc. I don' t believe there is any acknowledgement of the interview in his USMA portal, however. No word on the Nom as of today.

thanks

The Field Force Rep is a West Point graduate who is the official link between WP and the cadet candidates for your Congressional district. On the portal, this person's name and contact info is given. You can also find out who they are here by inputting your zip code.

My DS had an interview at SLE, but we were not told he had to have an FFR interview. Kind of confused about that. If we need to do it, then we need to do it now. His admissions rep has not contacted him since he started his application about 6 months ago. His file has been complete for 3 months probably and there has been no movement on it. They haven't submitted a request for the Dodmerb or anything. Thankfully USNA initiated it, we had it completely finished a few days later, and they have already submitted a waiver review. Could USMA be waiting to see if he has a nomination first?

On our portal it says: "West Point Liaison Officers" and then lists the State Coordinator and Congressional District Coordinator. This person is a graduate of USMA. No mention of "Field Force Representative". I think it is the same thing. But, this person has not responded to my DS despite my DS reaching out and being 2Q, LOE and Congressional nomination with medical done and awaiting response from DODMERB

I've heard RC, but that is not listed on the portal either. I'm looking at the portal now and it only lists WP Liaison Officers, State and Congressional District Coordinators (see snapshot below):1576157701460.png

Maybe have him email his Regional Commander and ask about both the interview requirement and the DoDMERB.

Go to website to look up your RC. He or she will be listed. If it were my DD, she’d email him and call him and not be shy.

Green check and the following: Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA) score on file (Dec. XX, 2019)
I believe that they have to review and validate the candidate's videos and then assign a numeric score to their file to be considered complete.
