Waiting on VMI Regular Decision

Maybe I'll have a run in with some of the people/children of the people posting on this thread then, very cool.

Also, in case I end up doing an interview as well, I was wondering if it is centered on the interviewer asking questions or the interviewee (me) asking questions? And is it one on one? Who exactly interviews the hopeful applicants?

I can't help with answers, my daughter did not have an interview before being offered an appointment. However, I would suggest appropriate clothes (no jeans, but they said comfy clothes so think like khakis or black pants-not a suit lol), and a good attitude. Be yourself, smile and look everyone in the eye when you're talking to them. Think about questions you might have about VMI, the Rat Line, which corps you're thinking of, etc. I wouldn't stress too much about it, or your nerves may get the best of you. Is VMI where you want to be? Then show them how much you want it - smile at everyone, be open for anything, ask any question no matter how small it may seem. You got this!

Good luck to you, I look forward to meeting you and your parents!

Great advice from EOD/SEALmom.

You interview with one of the admissions counsellors and it is one-on-one. You will be asked questions about yourself and why you want to come to VMI. You will also be able to ask questions. Best of luck!

Thank you both so much. VMI is my first choice out of all the places I applied to so this is definitely important to me. Your answers have been very helpful and have eased my nerves some. Thanks again!

DS had an interview last spring and it was very relaxed. He said the admissions counselor was very friendly and asked questions about his background and what made him interested in VMI. He then received the ROTC scholarship and then his VMI acceptance shortly after. He won't end up attending as he has appt to USMA and chose to have his scholarship placed at another school, but it is a really impressive place and he thought it would have been a great fit for him. I was really impressed with all of the admissions people and cadets we met while there.

My interview was very relaxed and comfortable. I would highly recommend going to interview because it shows dedication. I live on the other side of the country, but I made it a priority and I hope it pays off! Sitting down and talking to someone face to face is always going to be a benefit, in my opinion.
