Is there a certain time frame that medical waiver recipient candidates hear back from? Has it been historically that they have heard back later than most candidates?

I have been waiting for an update/ waiver since January- just checked my portal today to see that it had been updated from "Complete Medical...." to "None" and that the overall status changed to the final/official CPR. My DODMERB portal has not been updated to reflect this change which I assume is a waiver since there is no "Pending Waiver Review" on USNA.

It took a LONG time for this to happen- I've been working with DODMERB sinc eNovember to acquire the right papers and information. This was the part of the application that I was/am "weak" in. Just make sure that you are prompt with DODMERB/USNA requests. USNA put me in contact with someone who dealt with my waiver and it's processing and they requested some information as well. If you haven't heard anything back just keep waiting (or is it swimming) and asking if there is anything more that you can do to help them make their decision to appoint you.

Thanks for the question/updates. My DD has been waiting for over a month for a waiver. Kind of interesting that she also had applied to USAF and they had the waiver completed in 2 days. The last thing she heard from USNS was that it was in process. Not sure why one would take that much longer than the other. Does anyone know if USNA admissions is open this week? I know the Mids are on spring break.

I have received a medical waiver, but will I hear back on my admissions status later than others? I have also signed the medical waiver letter with USNA.

My DS received the medical waiver but we still haven't heard anything from admissions. Any idea what we should expect? Do they grant medical waivers and not grant admission?

Did you receive an email telling you about the waiver? DS is still awaiting a waiver from USNA but was granted one from USAFA early last fall. Not sure how to expect to hear from USNA. I would say it is a great sign that USNA has granted you a waiver! Good Luck!

As a certified survivor of the medical waiver process, I will say that every circumstance has its own timeframe. Be patient, but make sure you have everything on your side in order.

USNA is committed to notifying you by April 15th. If your waiver has been approved and you are selected you will get an appointment. If you are still pending a waiver you would get an LOA. If your medical is not waived you will be informed. Hang in there. 1 more month.

DS has two noms, but we have been told not to submit anything for waiver until they notify us. We have a full release from shoulder surgery and a waiting to proceed. Seems like we should have heard by now to at least get started. . .

It depends on the waiver. A waiver for color deficiency indicates an appointment is imminent. They only grant about 24 and do so for those they have decided to appoint. For most other waivers, it simply means you are now eligible for consideration.

I have received the color deficiency waiver but have not heard back from an offer of appointment yet. Any insight on this?

We received a letter in the mail. I do not know if DS received an email later but the letter arrived first.

Letter for the waiver?

They have done color deficiency waivers different this year than in other years, so I wouldn't hold true to that belief. In the past they granted a waiver and appointment in one major swoop after deciding on those who would make up the 2%. This year they seemed to grant waivers early in the process. It's a good step, but I would hate to have everyone's hopes up as the process seems different this year. I hope it means appointments for all of you!

As to those waiting who were granted a waiver. It's a good step. There are plenty of folks who get a waiver who do not get an appointment. But no waiver, no appointment. April 15th will be here soon. They are working through all the applications as fast as possible. Good luck.

I received a color deficiency waiver and was notified of my appointment last week, but I think it is going to be different for each color deficiency waiver candidate. Good Luck!!

When did you submit your application? I submitted my application back in November, and my color deficiency letter from the mail was received by USNA on March 3rd.

Submitted my app back in August and they received my letter Feb 15th because I live 20 minutes away so I just drove it there and dropped it off at admissions
