Any model suggestions for my daughter for a watch? A lot of people have said the Casio G Shock - there are lots of different kinds. Any you have really loved for your daughters?

I personally am in love with my Baby G which is made by Casio. It is a smaller watch than a G-shock and is less “bulky”! I highly recommend that line of watches for anyone who has smaller wrists :)

Be ready for them to potentially not even get them during basic — new Comm (grad) coming and all. Fingers crossed they don’t in my opinion.

YES, new Comm coming in to hopefully get back to what’s been lost the last couple years, tradition wise. Since he is a USAFA grad hopefully he reignites the cadets.

So he could change that even with it being on the packing list? My dad is a 69 grad and was shocked they get one also.

It's on the packing list.....
Oh man...

I'm getting old..."back in the day" one of the most important jobs we had as cadre was to go around and cover EVERY clock face we could find in Vandenburgh Hall for BCT. No watches, no clocks, nothing to allow the "basics" to know the time...just keep them moving all day.

Oh geez...I actually "said" back in the day... :yikes:

It was on the packing list for C/O 2023 too but was taken away for BCT. Last year with the ROM and Covid the c/o 2024 had their phones way too much to
but different times call for different measures.

I'd rather not know the time, seems like things go slower if there's a clock available in my opinion.

Yeah - this one hit me hard - I'm a 2012 grad and there were still zero watches during basic my whole time at USAFA. That was one of the worst parts! BCT wouldn't be the same with watches...

That and 4 degrees wearing backpacks were tough to swallow. I'm already old I guess...

DS is c/o 2023 and they were not allowed to wear their watches during BCT.

we (c/o24) were allowed to have watches and from feedback through the cw, c/o25 should be able to as well. even though the new comm is coming in, he won’t immediately make drastic changes to feel out the cadet wing
i used to the baby g and still use it for ddt/workouts in squad

According to my '24 son, last year his squad used a graduated cylinder and collected the tears of their cadre as they wept at the cleanliness of their Basics' rooms, the proficiency of their supermans, the precision of their drill, their amazing recall during knowledge tests, and their domination of PT. Half-full was noon, and they went to bed when the cylinder was completely full.

Look up "uniform lights..."

Then talk about "old..."

I was also class of 69. I don't recall any clock faces being covered up. I think I brought a watch, but didn't wear it because of activities. In those days, we didn't bring anything but the closes we wore.
