What are my chances of getting a full ROTC scholarship?

@AROTC-dad , If I apply for a 2-year scholarship now, but don't receive one, can I reapply during a Doctorate for a 3 or 4-year scholarship, or will that be equivalent to asking for a waiver? I honestly want to serve as an officer in any branch, and paying for college is even better.
-Also, after I receive a scholarship, is there a commission spot kept aside for me, and as long as I get good grades and >180's on my APFT, will I get a guaranteed commission into the ADA, Reserve or ANG?

@academyhopeful what happens if someone says “yes”. Or “no” to your inquiries? Does it change how you proceed?

You questions simply don’t have an exact answer. Even if you are a “shoe-in”, there are SO many other contingencies that cannot be planned for that really the answers are an unknown.

A veteran poster here talks about having to gather all the info you can, and make the best decision and commit to that. Sometimes we have to take leaps of faith and proceed forward wherever we land.

I sense from you questions that you are tying to lay out a “for-sure” plan. That’s great. But have a plan b, c. Things may not go as you want no matter
If something is technically allowed or not. Life has a way of laughing at you plans, and shaking things up a bit!

Good luck to you!!

I can only answer your question in the context of my own son's experience. He was a "walk-on" to Army ROTC as an undergrad freshman, having been nominated and declined an appointment for both USNA and USMA. At a State University, he enrolled in Army ROTC without a scholarship, and did the following:
  • He got good grades his fall semester
  • Achieved a 270 or better on every APFT his freshman semester.
  • He volunteered for ROTC activities such as cannon crew, etc.
By February, he had earned a 3.5 year campus based scholarship. He continued to do well and finished with his BA and Active Duty with his first choice of branch (Armor).

Note that of his freshman class of 45 cadets, only 18 commissioned and several did so with only a contract and not a scholarship.

You can enroll for your masters program but you might age out if you don't commission by the time you finish your graduate degree.

I don't know what you mean by "equivalent to asking for a waiver." Waiver of what?

Academics is not an issue. Clearly you have proven your self academically. On the other hand, your APFT score is of significant concern. EVEN IF YOU ATTEND AN SMC, a marginal APFT will not assure you of a commission.

The best source for your answers is the ROO for AROTC at the grad school.

do you know an answer to my question?

I'll try and be as clear as I can. Nobody on this board is going to be able to answer the specific questions you are asking. This is why you have been advised, several times, to contact an AROTC Battalion at a school you are thinking of attending, and talk with the Recruiting Officer (ROO) and ask your questions. They will be able to answer questions about scholarships, commissioning, and branching that should help you in making further plans. You really need to talk with them to get a good understanding of how this all works. You have been asking these same questions here for over a month, is there a reason you haven't talked to an AROTC Battalion yet?

-Also, after I receive a scholarship, is there a commission spot kept aside for me, and as long as I get good grades and >180's on my APFT, will I get a guaranteed commission into the ADA, Reserve or ANG?

Again, I would not ask this question as you stated above when you talk to a ROO, your fixation on a 180 APFT won't do you any favors and it won't get you any type of scholarship.
