So a really good friend of mine wants more than anything to get into West Point. I am already appointed, and it is killing him having to wait to find out! What do you think his chances are? I am trying to get some reassurance for him that he has a great chance.
He is number 4 in our class of 762.
He is president of the National Honor Society.
He has 5 AP classes this year.
He has done a lot of volunteer work.
He has received 2 congressional nominations already.
A problem is, he just started playing a sport this year. Throughout his freshman, sophomore, and junior years he did not play any sports. He plays lacrosse, and will get a varsity letter for it this year.
On the CFA, his scores were:
75 ft. for the basketball throw
12 pullups
80 situps
8.8 shuttle run
75 pushups
7:23 mile
So he is in fairly decent shape.
Another issue is that he was medically disqualified because he had ADD and OCD. These issues do not affect his schoolwork in any way. He has been off of meds for almost a year now. He had a reevaluation, and an Army doctor wrote a 3 page convincing letter for him to get qualified. He has not found out whether he has been qualified or not yet.
What do you think his chances of appointment are? He is stressing big time over this, and I wanted to get some more opinions for him. Thanks in advance!
