What are some stats of those of you who have already been appointed?

I know "there is no set standard that is guaranteed to get you in etc. etc." and "don't compare yourself to others"
I am aware that there are common data sets and class profiles but I wanted to ask around and see what other profiles looked like. I am a candidate from New Jersey who already has a JROTC nomination (still awaiting congressional nomination results) and had a medical DQ (submitted AMI almost two months ago but still under review). I've done literally everything I can and more from ROTC scholarships, emailing offices, DODMERB, talking admissions officers, etc.

I really want to go the USAFA but it is discouraging to feel like I've exhausted every resource and still have not gotten any results.

As a side note I (personally) believe I had strong EC's. average CFA and academics (62/661 Rank, 1360 SAT, 30 ACT), a pretty meh interview, and overall, just an average candidate. I've went to summer seminar, which I know has no bearing on my application, but is it a good indicator of my chances? Same with my medical DQ? I mean they requested an AMI which means something I suppose.

I wouldn’t look at attending summer seminar as an indicator of anything. Think about it: they have NO CLUE who the slate competition even is.

You firstly win your slate. Which is an unknown in the summer months.

As always advised, firm up your alternate plans. And good luck to you!

Thank you, I've done my interviews for HSSP and J100 (both of which I think went much better than my ALO interview) and I received the
Presidential Award Scholarship from Norwich already, which is reassuring to say the least.

You won’t learn anything by getting a smattering of results posted here. You’re better off simply looking at the class profiles posted on every SA’s website. That’s a legitimate view, rather than the biased and overly small sample size you’ll find here.

And anyway, how would knowing this information affect your chances or actions? It shouldn’t. Instead, focus on what you can control and tend to Plan B, C, D. That’s a more productive use of your time, and mental and emotional energy. Best wishes.

I'll also point out that regional competition for nominations is critical. In my case only 2 noms/applicants were on the USAFA slate. My competition took an appointment to another service academy, I accepted the USAFA offer. Good grades, took all the key AP courses, 1450+ SAT, MARGINAL CFA, a couple sports, ECs, JROTC leadership (additional nom source), summer seminar, FVE, etc. All the boxes checked, but likely I would have been passed over in a highly competitive district. No LOA, appointment came in March. As others have said, it's out of your control. Tend to back up plans, send positive senior year updates to admissions along the way, then wait. I had plans B, C and D in place.

Added info: I also had been disqualified by DoDMERB. The system shut down last year was brutal! AMI was requested in Jan or Feb when the system came back up. I sent documentation within a couple days. It sat for weeks until early March. I suppose admissions sat on the info until they knew they wanted to extend an offer. Notification of waiver request submission to AF medical authority, approval and offer came within a 3 to 4 day window. Silence from USAFA and DoDMERB means nothing, but it will have you on edge for weeks. Enjoy the ride!

I hate to give some less than positive feedback but for the Summer Seminar element, one of my DS was declined and the other didn't even bother applying so the fact that both are there right now gives you some indication of the degree of importance admissions places on SS. Not to say it isn't a great opportunity and many of the attendees do get an appointment but it alone can't be the measure of success rates.

I've thought before that it would be cool if there was a section on here where people could share their stats and outcomes for posterity, but then I realized after spending more time here, and reading people's listed stats on other platforms, that service academies get a fairly wide range of stats and you might scare off candidates who maybe don't have a 1600 SAT and a 5.0 GPA, but have a bunch of leadership experience, excel in sports, and other qualities that the SA's look for that might make up for a bit of a lower SAT/GPA. It's also human nature to put yourself in the best light possible, so while you can't really exaggerate straight stats without outright lying, you can certainly make a lot of the other elements of the application look as good as possible.

Basically, you shouldn't compare yourself to others just because SA's are not like regular colleges. There is so much that goes into these applications that can't be quantified. I totally get that you are anxious because I was too, but if you've put forth the best application you possibly can (and it seems like you have), then all you can really do is wait.

Hoping you don't have to wait too long to get that good news though!

I think that is very well said. I also think it was mentioned before but if you really do want to look at what the classes have it is probably best to look at the class profiles.

Class of 26 profile: Class26
Class of 27 profile: Class27

There really are no set stats as we are discovering. My kiddo's SATs weren't high enough to apply for AFROTC, but she recently earned an AF Prep spot, which I think is the best possible outcome. She isn't in AP classes but will graduate with her Associates/dual credit. I believe her essays, LORs and interviews were strong and I'm sure it didn't hurt that she is already a licensed pilot. CFA was good, she plays a sport, BUT she is not a high stats kid, captain of all the things, top of her class, etc. They truly take a holistic view of the kids and she went in with the mindset that if she didn't try, it would be an automatic no versus the academies making their own decision. Best of luck!!

We were so worried about DS’ gpa 3.77 and a -C on his transcript. But, his ALO interview said his resume was the best he'd ever seen… thankful but surprised to see his appointment early on Nov. 2. :)
