Hey all,
I just registered. I'm Matt. Nice to meet you all! All the candidates I've met have been awesome people and I'm sure all of you are as well. However, a lot of you have me pretty intimidated! I was wondering if you would tell me what you personally think of me as a candidate. Thanks! :) Got a nomination from my congressman, had interviews with both my Senators - still waiting on them.

Anywho-
3.65 GPA with 6 AP classes (Physics B and C, Calculus, US History, Government and Politics, and Biology) and two mathematics (stats and calculus) at a local state college through a scholars program
SAT -690 Math
610 Reading
560 Writing
ACT -29 Math
30 Reading
25 Science
27 Writing
I'm captain and a varsity runner on my high school track team, i run cross country, played football in 9th and 10th grade (switched to XC in 11th and 12th) and I participate regularly in 4 clubs at my high school.

I haven't taken my CFA yet but I can do around 60 push ups, 5:50 mile, 60 sit ups, and only like 5 true dead hang pull ups.
So let me know if you don't mind :)

Thanks,
Matt

If you've gone through the forums then you can probably tell that this question is what all the new folks want to know (I was one of them as well). However I have learned that there really is no answer to that. It depends on so many variables such as your interview with the ALO and the CFA. No one can truly gauge what your chances so the way I look at is I ask myself if I have done everything in my power to make my application the best I can make it. If the answer is yes, then I know that my chances are in the hands of the Admissions Office and if they deem me qualified, then my chances are high and all I can do is wait and see. Honestly, it has taken such load off my shoulders after completing my application and getting a nomination because now I truly know that there is nothing more I can do at the moment. I believe that if you think about this in the same way, that question will disappear because no one can answer you at that point.

also keep in mind

that another way to get in is by accepting to attend the Preparatory School for a year; that will prove that you are a serious candidate and are truly USAFA material

One thing to emphasize is you don't apply for the prep., they offer it, and IMPO I would think the OP is not a candidate for the prep.

Prep typically exists because the candidate has the overall package, but is weak academically. It is not offered to the top 100 candidates that didn't get selected from the NWL. It is offered as a way to get them academically on par. 1300 SAT, 3.65 gpa and 6 APs would not be seen as a candidate that needs another yr to strengthen their academic foundation. It appears he has taken a very rigorous academic load, and has successfully illustrated through his gpa and SAT that he has no academic issues.
