Wondering what is next for me. I received an LOA Back in October. Since then I completed everything in my application, and passed the CFA, did my exams, wrote all my statements and the whole 9 yards. However, I still haven't got a nomination. I figured that if I had an LOA, it wouldn't be too hard for me to get a nomination, but boy was I wrong. I applied through every source, got declined twice, and never heard back from one of my channels. I guess VP Nom is still a hope, but I'm starting to get worried. My admissions officer told me that some shuffling happens with nominations, and if someone who was nominated in my state decides not to go, I can get their nomination rerouted to me. She told me today that "West Point has methods on their end to work nominations" and I am very competitive for a nomination, and not to be too concerned. However, I can't help but get a little worried about what is next. Has anyone been in this situation, or know what I should expect?

Dear OP: My DD in same situation but for USAFA.
I have read and spoken to experts on this forum that if SA wants you, it can use the VP or SUP nominations ( these are at their discretion) for you. We are hanging tight as well..

Trust the process, allow a percentage for disappointment, tend the alternate plans, PT for stress management.

I would hazard a guess most with LOAs and no noms get one “somehow.” Some may not. Looking down the road, if those applicants become re-applicants via an alternate plan, try again for elected official nom, perhaps score a ROTC nom, I would think they would be in very good shape, assuming continued strong performance.

If your two "declines" are your Senators and you haven't heard from your Congressman yet, don't ASSume that its a "no". Check if they have announced Nominations yet, you might be surprised. If its a Senator that you haven't heard from, check with them as well.

I am actually in this situation with USNA right now. I applied to all sources for a nomination and only qualified for one interview with my congresswoman. But, I was denied a nomination. I received my LOA in my portal on 12/24 and it was unfortunately a little rough because I did not have my LOA on file while applying for a nomination but I am having a meeting with my admissions counselor tomorrow. Hopefully I will have good news but I am ready for disappointment and have my plan B and plan C ready to go.

Keep me updated on how that meeting goes

Do you hear back for nominations either yes or no, or do they only tell you yes, and you never hear a no from a senator or congressman office?

Elected officials have complete autonomy over their processes. There could be calls or letters or zip. The only sure thing is s portal change. Or not.

Yes or No, you will receive a result from them. My DD applied for 3 noms, and got one Yes & one No. The third one is pending......

Quick little update:

Today around 11am I got a call from my NRTOC coordinator and received a ISR (Immediate Scholarship Reservation). I was extremely excited for this because it is a full scholarship to a civilian college and a commission as a navy officer after.

My meeting with my counselor actually went very well. He told me to reach out to my members of congress which I have and be patient. The other thing is that I am doing JRTOC and it just so happens that my Army JROTC instructor can give me a nomination to the US Naval Academy because my school is a honor unit with distinction. So, I was able to find a nomination right then and there to fulfill my requirements. I definitely recommend meeting with your counselor and talking through with him/her your options.
