Holly Molly! A division 1 junior recruit getting cut from his HS team a year after making it that far in the Texas state playoffs? I can't imagine such a thing. That team must have some incredibly gifted underclassmen to have the luxury of cutting division 1 prospects, who presumably would offer tremendous leadership to others on the team, particularly after the experience of a title run. I would be outraged.
My concern, quite frankly, is that the Academy may wonder why he was cut, and conclude that it may be a character thing or he got in trouble somehow. Thus, a letter from the coach who cut him, assuring that it was for reasons which cast no negative impression on your son would be very important. And that is a real raw deal for your son that the coach has put him in a situation where he needs to address it at all.
Good luck.
