Hey guys, I ran into some serious problems with accepting my AFROTC scholarships and need a bit of help. I got a Type 2, 4 year technical degree scholarship, but I got into my school under my second choice major, Materials Engineering, which doesn't fall under the technical degree field. My plan in the beginning was to switch majors to Computer Science even if I got in under my second choice, but I don't know what AFROTC would think if I accepted the scholarship under that and attended for the first few quarters under a different major. Should I just say screw it accept under the major I am going to change to anyways, or are there other options out there? I've contacted my scholarship help desk too, but they are... slow on the responses and I feel I'll have to use the old squeaky wheel gets the grease to get anywhere with them.

I understand your concern, but it shouldn't be a big deal.
Contact the unit at the school, I'm sure they will be able to answer all your questions.
I know a number of cadets, not accepted to the school of engineering, that attended using their technical degree field scholarship.
You will have to show success and apply to the school of engineering prior to contracting or switch your major with the local unit.

Same thing for us, we contacted the AFROTC people via the web portal. Wrote a detailed message describing the situation and the school. Their response came within two hours saying you can major in ANYTHING (they used all caps). Let us know and we'll change it for you. They were very nice, and accommodating. I would use the portal first as they are awarding the funding.
