so I have been snooping around this forum lately and occasionally come across discussions about interviews, and it doesn't sound like some were talking about congressional nomination interviews, but interviews held by USMA....? I haven't received any notification so far for an interview, should I be worried? Or did the interview I had with a cadet at SLE count? Or perhaps is the interview a later part of the application?

It is usually from USMA’s alumni. They will contact you via email and will work around your schedule to do the interview.

For some candidates, USMA uses the SLE interview. But, for others who had a SLE interview, there will still be a FFR interview. One way of finding out would be to reach out to your FFR. Or, you could reach out to your RC.

Keep in close contact w/ your FFR, they'll be very essential to answering your questions & it will look good on you if you reach out to them first. If you went to SLE, your SGT took your interview. However, still contact your FFR & make sure that it is not still needed.

DD’s interview from SLE counted but, as @skibidi127 said, it was of great benefit to her to keep in contact with her FFR. Didn’t interview with him, but checked in every month or two via email to keep him updated on her packet, school in general, and to ask how he was doing. Did the same with a couple of *other* FFRs she’s met during the process. Turns out her FFR is chair of MOC’s nom board and she had relationships with 3 of the 4 people on the committee. DD was saying after, and I’ve observed it as well, one of the most amazing things about WP (and I assume the other SAs as well) is the community.

That’s like the best case scenario! Lol

If the interview at SLE goes well, it counts as the required interview. If it does not go well, another interview will be done by an FFR.

Sometimes an SLE interview does not go well due to the inexperience or unrealistic expectations of the cadet conducting the interview. Admissions is not going to hold that against a candidate and will redo the interview with an FFR, a more experienced individual.

The crazy thing is, on the way to the interview, I was like “wouldn’t it be funny if Mr. X and Ms. Y are a part of the committee?” She very quickly said there was no way… 🤣 We already knew of her FFR’s involvement with the committee. Afterwards I took it as a a teaching moment for some positive reinforcement about how tending her relationships and approaching this whole process with a new level of maturity out her in such a good position.
