I was assigned my mentor ALO yesterday when I was told I made it to candidate status. My question is should I reach out to them or do they reach out to me?

I recommend reaching out to them in April late, early Mayish. This is your mentor ALO and they are there to answer any questions you have. Keep it short and simple with a few genuine questions (nothing that can be looked up). Also, be polite and thank them for their time.

Other ALO's have better advice for the time frame. I just recommend waiting till after the big "wave" for 2025 candidates so ALO's can give you more of their time.

You obvously don't have to reach out right away but I recommend reaching out in the upcoming weeks or the upcoming month. Reaching out to your ALO early with genuine questions will show initiative while also allowng you to build a strong relationship with them.

I reached out when I was basically done with my candidate forms around July and compiled some questions for my ALO, so just have things ready and prepare some questions is what I recommend.

Through experience, I recommend getting in contact with your ALO sooner rather than later. They are a huge help and even just an introduction can help streamline the communication process down the line.
