I was wondering if I can send in my SAT scores to USAFA yet (I've already been promoted to candidate status) since I just got my March SAT scores back and wanted to send that in along with my October SAT (superscore) so that I don't have to worry about it later in the application. Any help would be great! Thank you in advance.

I believe as soon as you are candidate ( which you are) you should be able to send them. There should be a a section on the application that says test scores or something along those lines. If that's there then you are good.

However this is under the assumption that the new portal works the same as the old portal. I can't open a new application till septemberish so I can't be sure without seeing the application.

You can send in your scores now also. USAFA will receive them and these gets mapped when you open your candidate portal. It may take couple of weeks/few months for that to happen once you are a candidate. My DD took SAT in Nov and had her scores sent right away. When her app changed to candidate status, it took a few weeks/months to get the score mapped.

I just recieved a score o 990, my first SAT, is it worth submitting this score. I recieved a response stating a couple weeks ago, saying that I am not candidate status, as they hope I can improve my academic record.

My recommendation for sending SAT Scores: Put the name of the Service Academies you are applying to in the score send page before you take the test. College Board charges a ridiculous $12 a score send per college. If you are applying to 3 Service Academies and sending official reports to your 3 Member of Congress Nomination Sources, that is $72—a total waste of money. Instead, put your Academies in the score send page so your scores can be sent for free. There is no harm in doing this since the Service Academies do Super-Score with the SAT. Furthermore, many Member of Congress Nomination Sources allow you to self-report score or accept SAT Scores through your Transcript when sent by your Guidance Counselor or if you email them the SAT Score report on your College Board portal.

Since it's only March, I don't see the point. Study and retake the SAT and have those scores sent.

I mean of sending it through the USAFA Candidate Portal?

How do you send SAT Scores through the USAFA Portal? I am still on the old Class of 2025 Portal so I might be missing out on something, but don't you have to have pay College Board to send those scores?

Same with the ACT, when registering for the test you can send your scores to 4 colleges for free, then and extra are $12 each.

Thank you! I already put USAFA down as one of my score recipients before I took the March SAT (since USAFA is the only SA where I’ve been promoted to candidate), but I’ll have to send my October one in as well (1450 superscore), which is pretty annoying considering the fee. I actually didn’t list any of the other academies since I was told by USNA admissions to wait until later, but I wasn’t sure about USAFA. Thank you again!

Should I be sending them to AFROTC, NROTC, and any other sources as well? Or should I wait for a little longer for those? I can’t send them for free anymore so it’s more about getting it out of the way than for financial reasons

I believe he just means self-reporting the scores so that he can submit the PCQ, not actually sending them in (could be wrong, but that’s just my understanding)

Always send your best set of SAT Scores since you always want to present your best self. NROTC and Army ROTC do not require you to send official reports; they let you send in the SAT Score Report yourself. I can not speak to AFROTC, but do some research on that.

No point in sending ROTC scores this early. If AFROTC requires the official report, maybe have them sent in the Fall.
