Hello,
Everything in my portal is green (my cfa, medical status, I have my LOA, and I received a nomination today from my congressman). When will I get my appointment/acceptance letter?

Hey, to give a helpful response, it took about 2.5 weeks to get the call from the congressman after having 3q, loa, and nom last year. I got my nom on the 23rd of Dec, so Christmas probably slowed a few things down. Had a few friends with similar timelines.

Can you still get an appointment if you don't receive a LOA but have a nomination, passed CFA, and are medically qualified?

Yes! Sorry. It seems like so many in the various forums have received LOAs, I was just curious if people can be appointed without ever having received one. Thank you!
The majority of SA cadets and midshipmen never receive the early LOAs that have conditions with them that must be satisfied before an appointment is offered.

Here on SAF, the general feeling is that the data is skewed here, because the type of applicants/parents who are out there proactively looking for places to get advice and questions answered, really leaning into the process, may be more likely to receive LOAs or want to report them. The usual self-report rate for appointments for the 3 DoD SAs tends to hover around 10% of the class size each cycle, so that leaves hundreds of appointees we never see here.

The LOA is a unicorn that wanders into portals in an unpredictable way, used as a class-building tool by the SAs. Don’t spend any mental energy looking for one or worrying about not seeing one.

Thank You Capt MJ! I appreciate the feedback. :)

Patience, killer. I was in your shoes four years ago--was qualified with an LOA by October and didn't get my appointment until the middle of January. It'll be okay.

As a cadet, I can’t stress enough to not worry about getting an loa, especially to those who have yet to hear anything at this point. Most of my peers never got one. Some hadn’t even ever heard of them.

Besides, they don’t necessarily mean you’re some stellar gift from the Lord either. I received one to USMA in September of 2021, and then got flat out rejected from USNA in April of 2022. Sometimes they’re kind of just random…🤷‍♂️

On the nose (bolding mine). Made me laugh, thank you, and grateful I wasn’t drinking anything at the time.

The “unicorn theory” holds up.

I was notified a couple of days ago by my congressional nomination source that they were told I received an appointment. I am a bit impatient with waiting for the appointment offer to pop up in my portal. Does anyone know when I should expect it in the portal?

Pay particular attention early on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Congratulations!!! Everyone just needed to come back to work! Hooray and Go Army!
