When do you choose which branch of service you go into and how does that work?
I'll defer to a more recent grad, but this is generally how I understand the process works:
In the fall of your 1/C (senior) year, you rank your top two service selections. I think you have interviews with senior officers in those fields and then, in November, are told what warfare specialty you got (e.g, surface line, subs, air, USMC). In Jan. or Feb, you select your ship or flight school date.
The decision is partly yours and partly that the of military. The higher you are in class rank, the more likely you are to receive your first choice. However, needs of the military come first. I believe that, generally 90%+ of 1/C get their first or second choice in service selection.
