Thank you very much. You can fight it with staff at KP, but it is rare to win that battle. If I were in your situation, I would try to fight it, but I am sure others on here will disagree. You will need current x-rays and a letter from your dentist stating all four teeth are healthy and fully erupted with no occlusions. Your son will not have to have them removed until he is ready to go out for his sea year, so I think waiting is a good idea because a lot can happen between now and then. What if he hates KP or gets disenrolled for academic or disciplinary reasons or (heaven forbid) an injury. Then he will regret having perfectly healthy teeth removed for no reason. That's my 2¢. Now the piling on can begin.
Thank you very much. We will provide KP all x-rays including panoramic and dentist's statement. She was absolutely sure that it is not necessary in his case.DD was violently opposed to their removal. Local dentist (a former naval dentist) agreed that it wasn't necessary. KP requested and received all her dental xrays. The KP dentist agreed and removal was waived with the stipulation that any future problems were on DD. (And, of course, mom and me)
If you search the archives, this topic comes up every year.My son visited the dentist last week, all of his teeth are absolutely healthy ( I wish ! ) including wisdom teeth. Is it absolutely necessary to remove all 4 healthy wisdom teeth ? The dentist was very surprised by our request.
