from what i've heard, if you get seriously hurt or seriously sick, then can turn you away. i'm sure somebody will tell you the story about the kid who got on the bus from his hometown, rode all the way to colorado springs, and then as he got there, they were yelling at him and such and he stumbled off the bus and threw out his knee or leg or something. and then they told him to go home. moral of the story: don't or try not to do anything stupid from now and then. good luck! :thumb:

There are "X" amount of days that you have to complete in BCT in order to graduate from that and go on to being a cadet. I think they changed it last year, but it use to be that you could be a total of 8 days. If whatever illness or injury can be taken care of in less than 8 days, then you are good to go. If you are going to miss more than 8 days of BCT, then you will get medically set back. Which means you are guaranteed your position back again the next year; assuming you medically qualify again. later... mike....

This is not quite true. The "story" seems to grow with each re-telling, becoming somewhat of a SA "urban" legend.

IIRC, the candidate in question had injured his knee before reporting. There was much anguish prior to reporting as to whether or not he should even report. The knee was clearly not healthy when he arrived to BCT.

If you get sick or injured close to reporting then call the academy. If you get sick or injured while you are there they will take care of you. The rest is out of your hands.
A young man injured his foot seriously enough at West Point to require surgery. The Army took care of his foot and sent him home for a year. He reported again the next year and is enjoying being a cadet.

If you are injured while a cadet and leave, the military provide you with medical care.

there were some people on form 18s almost every day of basic and still completed.

there were some that got turned back for getting hurt, but i dunno the severity.

seems like they did change stuff this past year.. each week we had a counseling session w/ one of our cadre and they basically told us if we passed or failed for the week.. so who knows.
