Would acceptance to an ROTC program help you in college admissions?

My daughter submitted her application to MIT before she received her AFROTC scholarship news. She received a congratulatory email from the ROTC contact, who is on staff at MIT, but she has not "notified" MIT admissions. Should she? She did check that she was applying for scholarship when she submitted her app. She is very qualified, but so are her 3 classmates. We don't take anything for granted.
It's great that AFROTC MIT reached out. It always surprised me with my three kids which detachments did nothing and which ones reached out. Maybe this is why MIT AFROTC is such a successful and growing detachment.
As for letting admission know, you might want to consider asking the AFROTC contact at MIT if your daughter should let them know and in that email emphasize that MIT is her #1 choice. This does a couple of things - it maintains contact with MIT AFROTC and also it lets the detachment know that she is truly serious about MIT. If a detachment makes an attempt to work with admission for a scholarship winner, they probably like to know that the applicant will come to their school.
Has she had her interview with an MIT alum yet?

I'm guessing it did help, even if in terms of adding another kudo to the kid's app that admissions can look at. And I have to believe that admissions see a scholarship as a good thing since that money can be used for somebody else. If your daughter got a Type 1, she should be pretty smart and have a good set of extracurricular activities. I know the wait is hard, but that is all you can do at this point. Good luck!

When she sent a thank you she said MIT was her top choice. She had already had her MIT alum interview.

DS received 4 Year AROTC scholarship to the school of choice. On the ROTC website, his school choice actually says that they "Grant special consideration for acceptance to University for scholarship winners"

Which ones reached out and which did not, if you wouldn’t mind sharing?

I think AROTC helped my DS at Vandy. He had already gotten an LOA to USMA but changed his mind and decided to apply ED2. 2 boys from his school had already gotten in ED1, so chances weren’t great. But he did get in and I do think his 4yr scholarship and help from the PMS helped.

For AFROTC, USC and MIT reached out. And UCLA NROTC was communicative.
