Someone once gave a great suggestion here that I’m hoping to get more details about....
The suggestion included ideas to help make it easy for your basic cadets to write to you during BCT. They have so little time and energy to write home, anything we can do to help increases the odds that we will receive mail from them!

One idea was to provide them with prompts on what to write to mom and dad about. This might be essential for my kid who might otherwise not know what to write about- or simply be too tired to form complete, coherent sentences!

Someone posted a link to a website with ideas of prompts. Can anyone please provide that link again? I have searched this forum and can’t seem to find it.

Thanks!

This is one version I preprinted and sent to our 2024 plebe. Mind you it involved ROM and Covid etc. Adjust accordingly

Fill in the blank, checkboxes

My favorite thing in care package was: ____________________________________________________

Never send again: ____________________________________________________

Send more of: _______________________________________________________

Send me: ___________________________________________________________

My favorite thing this week/day that happened: ____________________________________________

My least favorite thing: ________________________________________________________________

Fave meal at USNA so far: ______________________________________________________________

Food is awesome: yes ⃝ no ⃝ meh ⃝

My roommate is: meh ⃝ ok ⃝ the bomb ⃝ ugh ⃝

I like my detailers: yes ⃝ no ⃝ omg they are rough ⃝

Something you want us to send (shampoo, soap, Kleenex, crapper paper etc) _____________________________________________________________________________________

Want more letters and care packages? Yes ⃝ no ⃝ maybe ⃝

Online learning?? What can you say briefly? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Love you,

Mom

Also, believe it or not, your kid will possibly not remember the details of their own home address- summer training does that to newbies. They certainly won't remember anyone else's address they may want to correspond with. The first letter I sent had addresses for people who he had chosen to write when he had a chance. I can tell you, the notes he received from high school teachers, counselors, and office staff sure were a hit.

There are 2 fun fill-in-the-blank letters that your Basic can send back to you (with space for pictures, their own comments, etc). You should be able to find them in the Files section of the parents facebook page and the admins will likely upload to the C2025 page. The Files section has tons of good information for parents.

Not mentioned on the packing list, but DD took 1 sheet of paper with addresses and key logins. Logins were for things like her aa.com and southwest airlines logins, netflix, email, smile amazon and a few others.
