AROTC 2nd Board Waiters 2015

Well, it depends on how the question is worded. If the question is do you drink, then I would think the answer would be yes with the qualifier 'occasionally with my parents'. Trust me, it's not going to be a problem. Drinking under the age of 18 in the US is often legal if done with your parents (depending on the state). What they are really looking for is if someone has a potential drinking "problem". An answer of "a few scotches each day" might pique someone's curiosity.
Well, I think a responce like that would catch their eye even from a 21+

Exactly the point.

Are titles of threads able to be changed after they've been created? If they can, then maybe the OP (look Jcleppe I'm learning) of this thread can change it to "2nd Board Waiters" instead of "Winners" so that it's clearer? Just wondering. Hopefully we'll start seeing posts to the official "winners" thread soon though!

I haven't had to fill it out for a girl; I have two sons in ROTC. To the best of my recollection, it asks questions that run the gamut from orthopedic problems to anxiety. Look over the list of DODMERB Disqualification codes. For example, one of my sons had knee surgery shortly before he was awarded his scholarship. He completed PT and his doctor noted that he was fully recovered with zero issues. DODMERB simply requested the records related to the case and qualified him.

My son is waiting for word on scholarship now and also scheduled for ACL reconstruction next week. What kind of time frame is there between being notified of the scholarship award and completing the DODMERB? Obviously he will need time for his PT.

Mamamelton, my DS had knee surgery his junior year before applying to the academy. He was released to full sport in April before summer seminar. He got an loa, was DQ'd but ended up getting a waiver. After arriving for plebe summer, he injured his other knee and had a second surgery. His surgeries were not as severe as an acl repair. In my worries over it I found out that the waiver for knee surgery depends on the procedure, how long you are post op and your surgeon's prognosis for recovery AND your rehab and recovery. Your son is going to have to work hard in therapy and he may have to wait a semester for the scholarship. My DS got assigned to contact DODMERB in July after his junior year. The doc asked him to do deep knee bends and twisting.

I agree with Sheriff and VaTechRoomie from another thread that this Friday 30 Jan is the day . . .

Also agree with Iowa73 . . .

It appears scholarship winners have 30 days to respond via email or fax accepting the scholarship offer after they receive the Army's official letter. Since the next/final Army ROTC board this year begins on 9 March, the Army probably wants to hear from the 2nd board winners before the 3rd/final board starts so they know how many open scholarship slots they can allocate. By my count, Saturday 7 February is 30 days from the start of the 9 March board, so the official scholarship offer letters need to be delivered to each recipient by Friday 6 February. Mail takes 3 to 5 days so letters need to go out in the mail NLT Friday 30 Jan or Saturday 31 Jan to make this timeline -- provided of course that all of my assumptions are correct . . . ;)

. . . Best of luck to all

So what's the deal? Will the portal just update? Will I get an email then a letter?

Great question . . . is there an email from Cadet Command or from a school? . . . does something change on the "Dashboard". . . or do you have to go to the "Selection Status" tab within the application to find out?

Your portal will update. My DS did not receive an email from Cadet Command. He was asked if he had heard anything about the scholarship and he logged in the morning of 11/6 and the status was updated.
The letter arrived three days later.

Cant wait guys! All our academic, athletic and leadership activities that we have worked on for the past four years will pay off soon! Even if I don't get the scholarship I have prepared myself to move on. So not much sleep tonight probably!!

It would be nice if it worked that way.

There have been some boards in the past that took so long to post results that it was almost time for the next board to begin.

This year it seems that CC does not update the status pages for the scholarship winners until they send the letters. From a couple previous posts it seems those letters are going out soon. If I remember right the results from the first board came out on a Friday. Good luck everyone.
