AROTC 2nd Board Waiters 2015

But still nobody has heard back yet? Is it possible that none of us got the scholarship?

Maybe it just said how many kids got the offers, rather than giving him the names too.

Just curious about your comment StayPuft...if the schools know, would that include the 5 listed on your application or?

I think it's hard to say how much individual schools know and what they don't. The whole process of awarding scholarships has changed so much in the past 4 to 5 years, and still continues to change, that it's hard to make any assumptions.

ROOs are not supposed to notify any winners prior to the letters being sent by Cadet Command, some don't follow the letter of the law with that one but it seems that most try and wait.

It used to take 3 to 4 days for them to post the upgrades, awards would trickle out each day. Now it seems that they wait until they have them all loaded in the system and then they release them all at once.

If you want some light (Some might say heavy) reading, look back at the January 2011 AROTC Board thread. It took around 2 months for the results of that board to be released. Things got so bad on this board that some applicants were ready to give up and just enlist. Some of the theories for the wait are something to behold and entertaining. Something to pass the time and you'll realize that this wait has been short in comparison.

Only about 3 1/2 hours of office time at Ft. Knox left today, still time for them to hit the button. If it doesn't happen today try and do something fun this weekend.

The AROTC Officer at University of Idaho told me that they release the news to the applicants before releasing it to the schools.

Are you thinking of attending the University of Idaho. Both my sons went there and were AROTC, one commissioned in 2012 and the other will commission this May. Great program and school, both really enjoyed their time there.

I visited there last November and was really impressed with the school and AROTC program. The new head instructor was very helpful. He even had me over at his house for dinner to discuss the program.

They all seem to like and respect him there. Once you have enough posts, PM me if you like, I can give you a bit more info.

Nothing you can control at this point. This is only first step in long trip. Everyone probably wants to be able to brag to classmates on their offer(s) as college acceptances roll in. Only natural. Remember 3rd Board will make offers in March and April, before you need to hit the May 1, 2015 college acceptance date. Much will change, SA appointees will reject ROTC offers, and some ROTC winners will not qualify or reject offers. You then have chance to apply on campus if serious on ROTC. Good luck.

Wilco..that's an interesting point that I've seen firsthand. A few of my DS's classmates received appointments to SA's this week (and are going to drop their ROTC scholarship awards). In cases where they decline or do not qualify, do those awards go back into the "pool" or does the branch account for that knowing "x" percentage will not move forward?

Sgt I do not have the answer on where the rejected or opened up awards go: back to national; held open for the schools listed by applicants? Plus with all changes to ROTC practice last year may have changed this year. I have read that CC calculates certain percentage of awardees will not matriculate with offers on 1st day of schools.

Side point there was a thread over a year plus ago about SA applicants holding onto the ROTC scholarship until the first day of the academy; interesting discssion by posters re: ethics morality of that path. Bull, Pima, Jcleppe were all on that thread if you want to try and find it.

Very good point.

I would say that a majority of AROTC Scholarship awardees that receive appointments to a SA or even other ROTC programs, hold on to their scholarships until just before they start their summer training. This means that these scholarships dollars won't be put back into the pool until after the final boards. This is one of the reasons to be very prepared to start ROTC so a cadet can have the opportunity to get any scholarships available to the battalion/brigade.

OK guys...so we are no longer speculating on what schools do or don't know. As of about 4 days ago the tentative offers were posted in the system. I could go in and see the offers to my school and open up an applicant and see what offers they had. We have also been told to look at those offers and make sure we want those offers made. If an applicant doesn't have the credentials to get into our school then we are going to tell Cadet Command not to make that offer. That is the reason why posting the offers doesn't equal releasing the info to the applicants. We are told not to release this information until the offer letters are mailed. Once the letter is in the mail there is no turning back and at that time ROOs are on the phones calling their winners or sending them emails.

WE HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD THAT THE LETTERS HAVE BEEN SENT, SO NOTHING IS OFFICIAL YET!!

If I was a ROO, and I am, I would never tell an applicant they are getting an offer until I know for certain there is a control number in the system and the letter is on the way. So, you guys can stress and speculate and infer from the ROOs that have contacted you, but until you have that offer letter signed by the CG in your hot little hands you don't have an official offer. I wouldn't even bank on a status change the way the new CCIMM has been performing since it was fielded.

As I've said before, if you are stressing do some pushups and then go for a run!
