I'm no fan of the Army Greens, but this thing looks like a Mall Security guard. In the quest to get rid of the Army Green which was pretty unpopular- the Army dress Blue uniform just went from being a good looking uniform to something that Wackenhut would be embarrased to be seen in. By a large majority most respondants in the Army Times polls wanted to return to something close to the old WW2 Officers "Pinks &Greens" with a belted jacket (not so unlike the Marine Greens). Instead they got design by committee and trashed a good uniform (blues). The SMA insists that this is a popular design but with who? Go onto the Army Times website and then go to see the number of unfavorable comments on this thing- must be in the hundreds of thousands by now. There are about 6 guys and a dog infavor of this uniform but you wouldn't say the numbers are overwhelmingly in favor- and especially of the womens design where they have badges pinned almost at the waist line. Perhaps the real agenda was a job creation one for the clothing design industry because for sure they will be back to the drawing board on this puppy! Meanwhile the Marines have changed Greens once in 75 years- (when they got rid of the Khaki pants in the late 60s and have the green pants with a class B uniform &that's about it). I'm not a Marine but they do a few things worth emulating for the Army and this sure would be one of them!! This is what comes of having a permanently constituted uniform board. What does everyone think about the Army changing uniforms and eliminating the Dress Greens?
You think the Army is bad.....take a look at the Navy:

I have no idea if this is the "New" Uniform or if they are still testing.
WM????Well i guess that is better than some of the other terms I have heard....
They also have way to many dodads on them.......It is just my thought, but couldn't they get rid of half that trash and still look sharp? What is wrong with just being a member of the US Army? Why do they have to have all those "Unit Identifiers"....plus the boots just look funny!
I suspect you're right. However, there are people that will buy them now b/c they are forced to...all of those O-4, O-5 and O-6's going to PME will need them for school!I suspect that the vast majority will be holding off until the very last second before plopping down the bucks to buy this thing.
wouldnt mind goin back to ww2 era uniforms, though.. THOSE were sharp
That looks like a WM.. not a sailor
why does the navy want to look like marines ???

and this Army uniform looks Air Forceish

It is tradtion, PARATROOPERS are authorized to wear the black combat boots with their ASU's.Regarding the Army dress blue uniform, wearing that uniform with the trousers bloused over boots is akin to the proverbial tits on a he-hog; it just doesn't fly. "Dress uniform" and "boots" do not go together under any circumstances.
............ represents the recommendations and inputs from Soldiers and leaders in more than 150 Soldier forums around the world conducted over the last two years. In the Army’s 2007 formal survey, Soldiers clearly indicated they wanted tradition, a uniform reflecting pride of service, recognition of their credentials, and low maintenance and upkeep costs. Survey results told us 98% of Soldiers wanted recognition of their combat service, 70% wanted recognition of their unit affiliation and 75% wanted recognition of their regimental affiliation. Soldiers indicated their preference to allow those authorized to wear “jump boots” with their Class A and B uniform to continue that important tradition. We have incorporated these recommendations into the wear policy.
I betcha that if anyone on this forum posted that the Navy white bell bottoms with the bib fronts and the white blouse and neckerchief make sailors look like a bunch of homos they would be banned. All the Army did by making everyone wear it is to make our troops look like a bunch of gay French cooks dressed up for Bastille Day.
