I'm going to defend K_Delrosario a little. I don't think he was trying to be cruel or negative, simply expressing surprise. You do have to agree that the scores aren't near the top of the spectrum, and when I first saw your post although I realized that he must have a lot of other things going for him, many others reading this may not. When then people posted "wow, my scores are similar - I'll probably get an LOA too!"
, well, you have to realize this isn't the case.
Maybe he could have expressed it better, or simply asked what else you believed led to the LOA, but really, my belief was the same - that USNA particularly of the three academies was looking for those high scores (ACT or SAT), and especially the math, and especially for the LOA's. Whether or not this SHOULD be the case, it most often seems to be.
I've heard from others on this board and many people are surprised by an LOA with a 25 Math ACT. Thank you for clarifying what else he had going for him, but I think your reply was far more nasty than his was. His expressed surprise - yours a desire for him to fail!
And yes, my son has his LOA already to USNA - with a more "eye-popping" 36 on the math ACT. And I believe he is still a candidate until I day - someone correct me if I'm wrong?
