March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

You guys are killing me...I don't see any offers being posted on my list, but being a relatively high cost private school I am not too optimistic I'll be the first to see offers. I did send an email to my Brigade this morning, asking for some word on whether offers were being posted, and of course I haven't heard anything back. You'd think someone from Cadet Command (beside me and Marist) would monitor this venue. I'll let you all know soon as I hear anything.

Apparrently YOU ARE THE MAN:thumb:

AROTC Scholarship Awarded

Our DS has been awarded a four year AROTC scholarship from the March 8th board

Check it out...right after posting I checked my email, and sure enough, word from Brigade. Looks like offers are being posted, and letters will be going out soon. You can all commence to frantically check your DODMERB and Cadet Command status every 5 minutes and speculate on the changing statuses until the letter arrives in the mail, or until I announce that all letters have been mailed. Once all letters have been mailed the ROOs will start calling anyways if you have an offer. In fact some ROOs ignore the rules and will be calling you soon if you have an offer. I follow the rules, so my advice is sit on the front stoop and wait for the mailman for the next two weeks. And don't forget to give him a big hug when he hands you that letter from Cadet Command!

AROTC Scholarship Awarded

CC Scholarship Status Site Message for DS:

You have been offered an Army ROTC Scholarship. We must receive your acceptance/declination by the date in your letter or the offer will be withdrawn. Your name will be sent to DODMERB the day your winner letter is printed. There will be about 72 workweek hours prior to being able to see your name in the DODMERB system.

You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite

Thank you for using the Army ROTC Scholarship Application Status System. If You have any questions regarding your selection status, please use the "Contact Us" button provided in the menu bar located on the left of this page to submit your questions.

NCranger...how were you notified. If you got a call from a ROO, don't spend the college fund yet. Not official till the letter arrives.

We were notified by the ROO and the CC website from his #1 school. The scholarship was attached to his number three school within the same brigade. We will be requesting a transfer of his 4 year school. Hopefully the transfer will be approved.

March 8, 2011 AROTC Board

Just received notification from #1 school my DS has been awarded a 4-year AROTC scholarship . He has the option of choosing from #1 or #2 school. The notification was also noted on the AROTC status page.

The notification was also noted on the AROTC status page.

Did the CC website also include the schools? In the past the website did not do that. It would be a great improvement if it now includes the school list.

The website did not post the school list or the type of scholarship given. Received that information from the university ROTC scholarship contact.

I would imagine they found out about which school the scholarship was awarded to by the ROO they talked to.

It's nice to see the status page say the following statement when there is a status change:

Instead of just saying:

It sure makes things clear.

I would follow Clarksons advise, don't spend the college fund or pop the cork until you receive the official letter. That being said, seeing that new message sure gives you reason to dance around the room a bit.

Congratulations to those few who have seen their status change.

For those still waiting don't fret, it took about 3 days for all the awards to come out last board.

Still no change. Does anyone know if you get a "sorry you didn't make it" or does it just remain the same?

In the past the status page just remained the same if you were not awarded a scholarship.

With the new changes in the message on the status page, it is unknown if they will post anything if an award is not given. We'll just have to wait and see if anyone get a message stating they did not receive a scholarship. I'm sure someone will post here if they get such a message.

They must be just releasing a few at a time right now, there will probably be new updates all day until the close of business at Ft. Knox. A few more hours still left in the day.

As usual, I totally agree with everything Jcleppe says. Well, . . . except for the "cork-popping" part. My view is that if your website is updated to reflect the award of a scholarship, then you should promptly pop many, many corks. And when the official letter comes, you can pop the cork again!! :thumb: (totally agree, though, about not spending the college fund part)

Congrats, everyone!! While I can't predict for sure, if I were a budget guy in the Pentagon, I'd be a bit more cautious now and award more campus-based scholarships in the fall depending on how the budget battle shakes out over the summer. But then, I was a bullet-stopper in the Army, not one of them "high-falutin" Finance Corps types.

Hey,

If anyone is going to be a freshman AROTC at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa this fall,
my DS and 2 other future cadets are looking for a 4th roommate. Riverside dorm the last I heard.
Engineering, Anthropology and a Quantitative Economic major...what a mix:eek:

PM me

Good luck to those who are waiting and Congrats to those who are done waiting

The waiting when no one knew was much easier than this. Can't they just hit the send button and everyone find out at once, instead of it being dragged out over a couple of days?

Goodness, I wish! The wait is almost over. Just be...optimistic
