November NROTC board results known?

status change?

Results have been released to the website!

Selection letters were mailed yesterday.

Marine Board placement has also been released to the website as well.

Congrats to those selected!

I am wondering if anyone's status has changed? It's awfully quiet out there....

Still nothing for my NO applicant lbotsford. Did get turned down for AFROTC this week. 3 weeks ago, the scholarship advisor working with my kiddo said no one in our recruiting area had a NO offer. Although that could be different after this release.

My friend Google found this for me, very interesting. I'll link it in case others want to read it. Until I saw this document, I didn't realize how few NO scholarships are available. http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/Publications/NOTICES/1131_NROTC GoalsFY11.pdf

Merry Christmas! And congratulations to those awarded scholarships!

NROTC Scholarship Selection/Placement System / No decision has been made on your application. So does anyone know how long till the next round? Merry Christmas

Congratulations Bird85.

It appears there have now been at three selection boards, this being the third (or possibly fourth).

Which scholarship (Navy, Marine, or Nurse) was awarded to you, and to which school? Are you in one of the Diversity Categories reference in the link breadcrumbs posted? If you don't mind sharing some stats, it helps those of us who are still in "No decision has been made on your application" status to understand where we might fit in comparison to those awarded.

One last question.... I have been wondering if Type I scholarships (Engineering) are being awarded first, then later Type II (other Science and Math), and lastly Type III (anything not Engineering, Science or Math).

For those awarded Navy Option scholarship so far (not Marine, Not Nursing), does anyone know if they are Type I, II, or III?

Sure, I'll give it a shot:

DS applied for Navy option. He's not in a diversity category. His stats are solid, but not overwhelming. GPA is 3.52. ACT was 28, although he took it again earlier this month and felt he did a lot better. Where I think he scored well was in athletics, EC's and leadership. He earned 3 (soon 4) Varsity letters in swimming. He is in NJROTC and has held various leadership positions. Lots (100's of hours) of volunteer work through our church. NHS, class officer, School Newspaper editor, Eagle Scout, club swim team. Where he REALLY did well was in is officer interview. He plans to major in Chemistry, so he was a Type II candidate. We were pleasantly surprised as we also felt the Type I's would be getting them first. All in all, a very surprising early XMAS present. We had checked his status Wednesday with no change. As a matter of fact, they had his SAT/ACT scores incorrect and he sent in another set of scores over a month ago and the site never updated. We were going to try to email Pensacola on Monday to find out what the deal was with his scores. After seeing some posts this morning from folks stating they received a scholarship, DS checked his status and the Congratulations statement was right there. They also had his scores updated. He is also an AROTC Scholarship recipient. He will use either scholarship at VMI (that is if he gets accepted, we are still waiting on ED results). Good luck to you all who are still waiting.

Best christmas ever!!

I just checked my status and I've been awarded a 4 year Marine Option scholarship to Villanova university! For anyone perusing this forum in the future, my creds are as follows.

gpa: 3.67 unweighted
SAT: 630 math, 670 reading, 770 writing(im not sure if they even look at it)
PFT: 167
Varsity baseball and cross country(team captain)
Civil Air Patrol--Mitchell award
a bunch of other less important stuff...

Honestly, from things i've been reading, i really didn't expect to get this. So for anyone giving up hope, don't!!! Good luck to everyone and Merry Christmas!

I don't mean to sound resentful, but I'm truly confused as to whats happened with my NROTC scholarship (non-Marine option). I completed the application in mid to late August and haven't seen a change to my profile since.

My stats are as followed:
32 ACT best individual score
34 ACT super scored
35 Math 35 English 33 Reading 33 Science
2070 SAT--- 720 Math 710 Reading 640 Writing
93.9 GPA
VP Model UN Club
Editor in Chief of School Newspaper
Multiple MUN award winner, chairman
Selected to attend international MUN conference in the Netherlands
3-sport athlete--cross country and indoor/outdoor track

Prospective Math major and my top 5 schools are

1) Duke University
2) University of Rochester
3) University of Colorado-Boulder
4) Vanderbilt University
5) Northwestern University

I've already gotten a scholastically qualified letter and a nomination from USNA, but I'm seriously worried I might wind up with no appointment and no scholarship come April. Does the NROTC board give scholarships to more selective schools (Duke, MIT, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Georgetown, etc) later in the scholarship process? Is applying as a tier two major hurting my chances? Should I contact NROTC coordinators at my top schools and see if they know anything on my application status?

Same here dpt620, especially since I busted my butt to get a 1st class PFT score of 230.

The next Marine Option board won't meet until February, and even if I get a scholarship my first choice school will probably be full, which means I'll be paying for college on my own.

It ain't over til it's over.

I was told my someone working for the Navy and very closely associated with NROTC that perhaps more so than USAF and Army (if they even do at all they, they said), Navy does look to see who's also applying and very likely to get into USNA and may award early scholarships to kids they want but aren't likely going to get into USNA. Ie, they don't want to 'waste' NROTC scholarships on kids that won't end up using them. It ain't over till it's over so hang in there.

NROTC board sit every two weeks, and they award a fairly equal number of scholarships at each board.

There is plenty of time left for anyone still waiting.

dpt620, I definitely feel your pain. My ACTs aren't quite as high as yours but our GPAs are pretty close. Like you, I have a ton of ECs and proven leadership positions in them.

I'm also a prospective math/quantitative economics major and I've also been applied since mid-August.

Nothing.

If I might add, I'm a minority (Mexican American) applicant.

First off, unless something has changed for the AFROTC. The board is blind to the fact that the candidate may or may not be applying to the AFA. The only way they would know is if the ALO informed them. AFA boards meet in CO. AFROTC meets in Maxwell.

Remember, the AFROTC program does not tie their scholarships to the college. The student is free to take them anywhere they want. They do inform them of their intended majors and their intended colleges, but it has nothing to do with selection. AFROTC dets can have 50% on scholarship at one, and 5% at another.

The thing to understand is boards operate on First Come First Served. Some of these candidates have had their paperwork months before you. For example, your paperwork is processed by them on August 15th, but right now they may only be up to the paperwork that was processed by Aug. 14th. That means you have to wait until the next board.

They also traditionally slow down the frequency of the boards in end Nov/Dec. Boards are held by officers and this is a secondary job, it is not their primary, thus if they go TDY or on leave, they need to get someone else in there.

They know that it is important to you, but they are also not going to tell an AD member "sorry, you can't have leave for the holidays because we need you here for a board". Instead, they will just not have that board. FWIW, this also is true for any of the SAs in case anyone is curious.

Just take deep breaths. It will happen. You appear to be a very solid candidate, and I wouldn't worry.

BTW, contact your BGO and ask him if you are really concerned. He/She really are the ones that know the ins and outs for your packet when it comes to this situation.

CORRECTION: my pft is actually 267, not 167

Thanks for the encouragement.

Pima--From my understanding, the NROTC app asks if you have applied to any of the academies, so what lucky marcy stated is certainly a possibility. However, if I get accepted to Duke with a NROTC scholarship, I would have a tough time deciding between the two. It just doesn't seem fair that someone could get rejected for being "over" qualified (though I'm troubled in believing that this might be the case), but alas, life isn't meant to be fair...

Would it hurt to email the NROTC office and see if my file has been put up for review, and ask if there is any specific reason I haven't received a scholarship yet? I don't want to sound intrusive, but if there is something that happened that is within my control, I definitely want to change it. I've talked to the NROTC coordinator in my area and he is essentially clueless. Should I email/call the representatives at Duke/Rochester to see if they know anything? Sorry to be asking so many questions, I just don't want to intrude on the scholarship process and hurt my chances by asking questions I shouldn't be asking in the first place...

dpt --

Per several posts here by P-Flying17, who is an admin at the NETC in Pensacola, there is no discussion allowed regarding application status, including whether a package has been before a Board and passed over and rolled to the next Board -- I interpret that to mean no discussion about chances of being awarded a scholarship, things that can be improved or clarified, etc.

I also infer from dozens of posts this year and last year that NOBODY has the ability to status an applicant outside the official website. There is communication open regarding specific questions sent to NETC asking for verification that the Package is complete, or to change the order of the five schools on the application. Again, this comes from posts by P-Flying17 who works at NETC.
