Time for this thread to start up. I wonder if it will see as much activity as in previous years.

    Best wishes for all applicants.

October 15 is the first of this year's three high school review boards for AROTC scholarships. Looking at prior year boards, it could take a week or more before the notices of scholarships go out.

In the past the award notices have not all been issued on the same day, so patience is required.

I am sure there will be as much activity as previous yrs.

The true question for candidates is not the activity, but amount of awards.

I am betting it will be like last yr., maybe even less because of sequestration. Hard to award scholarships when that HUGE cut is looming come Dec. for the DOD.

If you receive a scholarship your status page will change. When it changes it will only state at first that you received a scholarship. It will take a few days before the status page changes again to show which school/schools the scholarship was awarded. The status change will not tell if the award is a 4 or 3 year scholarship.

After the final status change Cadet Command will send out a confirmation letter with the official notice of award. The letter will tell you whether the scholarship is for 4 years or a 3 year AD. The letter you receive is the Official Notice, until you receive the letter nothing is official even though your status page has changed.

Once you receive the letter you will have 30 days to accept or decline the scholarship award. Do not decline the offer because it was not to a school you wanted thinking you will be reviewed again. If you decline the scholarship, that's it, your done.

If your status page has not changed by the time the letters are sent out then you will be rolled over to the next board.

    Good Luck everyone.

Thanks to all of you for the great information that is supplied on this site. I am wondering about the process the board goes through and how long they convene. Is this board still in session? The S/A/L scoring is straight math except for the experience survey part of the application which I assume is scored by the board. Once they have the OML for the completed applications, what is the process they us to determine the first pass of scholarships? Based on previous years experience, we would start to see updates to the status pages next Wednesday or Thursday, does that sound right?

The timing will probably be that applicants that are awarded a scholarship will see there status page change sometime during the first week of November, could be sooner, but most likely not. The board takes a few days if not a week to go through the applications.

The process is the same for each board. There will be the S/A/L from the application, the interview, and the PFT. There is the straight math, and then the comments from the PMS on the interview sheet, which can carry some weight as well.

    Best of luck.

Don't forget the personal statements those probably carry weight as well.

We are also waiting anxiously for the results...no changes to my son's application status as of this morning. I know it could be a long wait if previous posts are any indications. I do have a question however, my son just received his latest SAT scores. Do you think it is a good idea to notify Cadet Command of his new scores and if so, how to best do this? (new scores are about 150 points higher than previous scores).

    Hi,
Too late for the October 15th board (they most likely have already "closed" the board and are now in the documentation & notification mode).

However, if your DS ends up getting re-boarded (2nd board), then the new updated SAT scores would be taken into consideration with his "whole-person" application.

I would recommend working with Cadet Command to submit the updated SAT scores (unless of course you here good news from the Oct 15th board in the meantime).

Suggest sending them an electronic scan of the SAT scores, official SAT request to CC, and an email to your Administrative support person at CC (check your emails and other documentation, you should have a contact listed).

Best of luck to you and your DS. :thumb:

Thanks Tgun! I think i'll do as you suggested just in case he is re-boarded.

Seems that this board is taking a lot longer than last year for publishing to the status pages. Last years board started on 10/17 and most of the scholarship selections were notified via the status pages on the 27th and 28th. That would have been last week for this board schedule. Hopefully, we will start to see updates later this week.

The storm on the east coast could very well be the reason for any delay. Cadet Command may be waiting until they can get the results to everyone, with a few million poeple without power, it may take a while.

Nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to getting the results posted. The January Board in 2011 took over 2 months to get the results out. There are only a couple people at Cadet Command that have to go through all the updates, with budget cuts it could very well be taking them longer to process.

Waiting is the hardest part, cadets will learn this will not be the first time they have to wait longer then expected to get results. Just wait until it comes time for their OML and Branching, that seems to be delayed every year. Last year the CULP results came out over 3 weeks late. Welcome to the Army, patience is a neccessity, although understandably hard sometimes.

    Status Question

    Hi all-

    1. When I check my status, it says all items have been received except Medical - still showing as Not Received.

I thought the Medical part wasn't to be done until after you get a letter telling you to schedule a Med Exam -- which occurs after you get a conditional scholarship award. Is that correct?

If so, will the Board review my application even though I have that one item that says Not Received?

    2. It still says I need to schedule an interview, but I have done my interview and verified with the interviewing officer that it was sent in and processed. Any ideas on what to do there?

This is a great forum -- thanks for all the advice.

The medical will show "Not Received" until you have completed your physical. The medical is not required to be completed prior to being boarded.

I wouldn't worry about the Interview notice, Cadet command is known to be slow updating the status page.

Just posted a similar one on another thread related to the Oct 2012 board.

The wait is horrible, but as Jcleppe points out, far from the worst wait you will experience through an Army career. Army Time is no where near real time:wink: Stay busy and take care of each other.

My DS is waiting to hear about his SMP contract(still) so for us waiting on a contract has taken 2 years(since October board 2011). Hopefully, I'll have news to post soon and so will some of you waiting on this board:thumb:

    How are the applications scored?

Does anyone know how the applications are scored or how the board evaluates applications? I know this has been the biggest pool of applicants for an October board in memory (according to my application coordinator at Fort Knox), so I imagine the competition is going to be pretty rigorous. An Army ROTC recruiter told me that the results will likely come out in the 2nd week of November and to call him then. I keep telling myself that patience is a virtue.

News flash...offers have been posted in CCIMS...Battalions have been told to wait until letters are mailed, so ROOs should not be telling you if you have an offer or not. You can check your status and believe recruiters all you want, but until you see the offer letter in your hands it's all speculation.

Here is some insight into how a file is scored.

An Army recruiter told you 2nd week in November...How many times have we told you relying on recruiters for information about ROTC can be risky.

So does that mean if my son's status has not changed, he has been passed on to the next board?
