300-ish kids WILL be busy doing SOMEthing for:
They have:
Computers: to be issued, unpacked, software downloaded, set up, email to be checked(so stay tuned for emails from them.. yay, finally).
Books: to be issued, checked against schedules, stenciled(named), organized.
Rooms: to be moved into(from their Indoc room), to be organized, inspection ready(or thereabouts), and (oh yeah) roommates to meet.
300-ish kids WILL NOT be...
--lolling around the pool with nothing to do
--trying to decide which mixer they will attend
--going out on the town to have dinner
--or, wasting time wondering how they will set up their refrigerator/microwave/toaster/stereo/TV/DVD/Xbox/or ClockRadio (clock, yes..Radio, no).
For the Math placement test...
You'll want them where they belong. Granted, if they are in whatever the accelerated College Math is (pre-calc, trig, alg 2--on steroids), they will definitely be doing summer school.
However, there will be some who take Calc1/Calc2 (or Phys/Chem) who don't address it properly... and will be enjoying that opportunity as well. Emphasize study.
