"The Wait List" Club.....

Thanks for the kind wishes by the way. Also, as a candidate who already knows he was unfortunately cut from the wait list, is there still reason for me to contact an AAP?

If you want to re-apply next year, it may be worth talking to an AAP about what you can do to strengthen your application. Any feedback your AAP gives will be helpful to you in the future, as you will probably go through a competitive selection process (for school, scholarships, jobs) again.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get accepted. If it's any consolation, you're in good company.

"Just got some stats on acceptances/declines for Class of 2014. However, not sure if I can disclose this or not. I am an AAP. Sorry to tease you but I'm checking and will post more info later if I can."

"I've just seen the data, too. I guess you, me, USNA1982BGO, BruceTalbot, robin820, and mnolan can all talk about it to each other via PM......^^^"

"My impression was that only Admissions was permitted to release. Luigi and Steve, PM me and we'll debate"

"^^^But now we'll drive them all over the edge.....Way to go Boss"

"....and then depression set in...."

"Those who have not received an answer yet via email, snail mail, or telephone may want to contact their AAP today for a status update."

"Looks like a really big class coming in. All I'm sayin'"

With all the cryptic messages I thought the AAP was a chapter of the Masonic Lodge.

Well sir that was an interesting first post.

In defense of the AAP's, they try throughout the entire cycle to be of assistance to candidates and their families. They(we) walk a fine line. We are limited as to what we can disclose...sometimes we post stuff on here that may hint at things we would rather come right out and say...but can't.

Perhaps we should use more discretion going forward. But it seems like the parents and candidates are eager for even a sliver of information.

The selection process this year was the most difficult I've seen in the six years or so I've been involved. On the plus side, a very strong candidate whom I interviewed last year(and didn't make it) reapplied this year and is part of the Class of 2014. So there is always hope for the future.

Good luck to all those who missed out. Work hard next year, reapply if this is really what you want, and hold on to your dreams.:thumb:

To be fair to the applicants who did not make the cut this year and with the proposed smaller class size next… “more discretion going forward” would be prudent.

While I totally appreciate how hard it is for one to not be selected, I think any information at all is a gift to those who wait. Our family has been on both sides of this fence, and both times we read (and re-read) these threads to keep the hope alive. Without these postings we would have been in the dark for a majority of the process.

My .02 is for the AAP's to keep doing what they're doing. But, then again, I don't really get a vote...until the class of 2019 is applying anyway.

Or if anyone made the short list?

We have mailed non-acceptance letters to the majority of the wait list and they should arrive by June 1st. As previously discussed, we are going to maintain a short wait list of ~20 names and those individuals will be contacted via e-mail by tomorrow evening.

On behalf of all Admissions Partners; what exactly do you mean??
Discretion is the creed we follow; you are making no sense.
There is not one response that has ever come across this board that has been out of line or without the intent of lending assistance to YOU the readers of this forum.

Here here...this guy posts twice and he expects to have the cred of people who've been on here for years. Get a grip sir.

Just an Opinion...

I am a parent & can only speak for myself...I advocate this forum and all the members who have given their time, valuable information & insight during this process...we have the choice to read, interpret and post to this forum and ask questions related to any topic and receive information/suggestions that may pertain to our candidate's situation...Growing up, my father always told me "Don't bite the hand that feeds you..." :thumb:

Thanks for the update! Keeping faith & fingers crossed! :thumb:

I will second disey3 and everyone else who has benefitted from this forum.

During the application and waiting process, we, personally, were like vultures circling, looking for any piece of info that would make the waiting more bearable. Remember when we were all checking Dodmerb like crazy, just hoping for something.

This forum, not only gives wisdom and helpful advice, it gives hope...which we all needed at some point.

AAP's: Continue to post anything you can and know that it will be appreciated more than you can know!!!!

Fingers, toes, and all other possible extremities crossed, twisted, double-knotted and contorted to within an inch of my life.

Thanks-- now I can obsessively check my e-mail allllll day tomorrow. Hey, I needed something to do on my day off.

Memorial Day Wkd

Enjoy the weekend with your family and give a moment of thought to the many brave that gave their lives....

Son got the “We regret to inform you………….” letter today. On July 1st he will take the oath at the USNA. I am not sure how he would have responded to a longer waiting period for the USCGA had it been an option. Once he had sent in the commitment letter to the USNA he was all in.

I pray to God that he will never be in need of the services of the USCG, but if he does it is comforting to know that the USCG is being lead by some of the brightest and the most talented men and women that this country has to offer :thumb:. GO NAVY!!!!!:shake:

Son received email today offering him a spot on the short wait list. It said to reply if interested and if interested in the Scholars program also.

My son received a call Thursday and asked if he was interested in the CGA Scholars program and said yes. We then received an e-mail yesterday advising him he was on the short waiting list for the class of 2014 and also would he take a CGA scholarship and join the class of 2015. Resounding yes to both questions. This has been crazy year for all the service academies, record number of applicants some of the best and brightest. Just the fact that anyone on this forum made it this far is commendable. :thumb:
