TWE

DS got his TWE email this morning as well. He's at the beach on spring break and I just don't have the heart to break it to him. Hoping he doesn't check the portal until he returns tomorrow night. I do believe Falcon Foundation Scholarships are still on the table and notification is tentatively set for Monday.

Estimated release of Falcon Scholars appointments – 7 April 2014

This a.m. DS found TWE on the portal for USAFA. Told him to keep looking forward. Waiting on USNA response & with plan B in place with NROTC the future is beginning to take shape. Best wishes to everyone still waiting, DS has walked the path and will grow with the experience.

Well said jjlma. This is exactly the position my DS is in as well. He is excited about the NROTC opportunity so it is not all bad.

Good luck everyone!

How do I re-apply? The portal won't let me begin a new application.

Yeah I want to reapply ASAP. Anyone know the next step? Also are we for sure 100% rejected or waitlisted?

My DS is a C3C. While following everyone these past years, I've watched the dismay of recipients of the TWE turn to disbelief, then joy as they received Falcons Foundation scholarships, Prep appointments, and actual appointments in the following days and weeks. I think I remember one candidate who received a TWE followed by an appointment on the same day (or the next day). Don't give up, but move ahead with your Plan B and begin the prep to apply again if you wish.

I don't think you can begin the process to reapply until the application reopens this summer. I'm sure someone with experience in that will come forward soon.

Proud Dad

DS also received a TWE this morning. He took it well. No looking back on what could have been done differently; just looking ahead. There is some solace in just knowing after all these months. We're so proud of how far he made it in this journey and the initiative he showed. There have been many valuable lessons and experiences along the way.

DS got the TWE on his portal this morning. Glad we have other options. I'll be at USAFA for graduation and close that chapter in our lives. Can't fathom he would even be considered for prep. Usually you have to be lacking somewhere academically for that. All grades and test scores were within their acceptance levels. Great choices left. Good luck everyone on your plan B schools!

Everyone who got TWE look closely at end of first paragraph. Mine said that I won't be offered prep programs, but some don't say that. I think that is what determines if you're in the running for falcon or not.

Falcon Foundation

I'm a bit confused about the Falcon Foundation scholarships. How much are they worth? and what if i haven't applied to any of the military prep schools?

I received a TWE for the Class of 2018, does this mean i am out of the running for a prep school appt, or a foundation scholarship?

I received a TWE as well this morning. Disappointing yes, but I was getting to anxious waiting and just wanted to know a yes or no so I can move on to the next thing. USNA is still in the game right now, and that was my number 1 choice so we shall see how the cards are played. :thumb:

I got the the TWE also but mine doesn't mention Prep Programs at all. Does that mean I still have a shot at those?

Does that mean USAFPS isn't even an option. Are we not being considered for that anymore?

Not sure about USAFA, but my understanding of USMA is that fully qualified and nominated candidates are not eligible for prep. It is for outstanding candidates that do not make the cut due to an academic deficiency. I may be wrong

My letter says "we will not admit you to the academy or one of our prepatory programs"

would this mean I won't receive a falcon foundation scholarship either?

Just called admissions, and if your letter does not mention either the prep program, or the foundation scholarship, then you are still being considered. I will find out by May 1st at the latest of my acceptance.

Are you fully qualified? If yes, I think you are not eligible.

"Every year, some applicants to the United States Air Force Academy show great potential, but fail to gain admission to the Academy because they need additional academic preparation. From this applicant pool, Academy admissions recommends worthy students for consideration by the Falcon Foundation. There is no application process for this scholarship."
