An actual letter was received asking for his transcript. At the same time the red "X" was on his portal next to transcript section (this must be a general after January pending item for all candidates on the portal).

Does anyone know if the "big push" has happened yet. I read on this forum that last year the West Point Admissions page posted a picture of all the BFEs going out. I ask this because the appointment list is already up to 84. If that represents approximately 10% of appointments, then there are only a few hundred left. Yes....waiting is killing me!

Does anyone know if the "big push" has happened yet. I read on this forum that last year the West Point Admissions page posted a picture of all the BFEs going out. I ask this because the appointment list is already up to 84. If that represents approximately 10% of appointments, then there are only a few hundred left. Yes....waiting is killing me!

I don't know if the big push has happened yet, but I turned in my application around Feb. 29 and received an official correspondence on the portal that I was placed on the national waiting list on March 7th. The next day I was offered an appointment, so I don't know if the majority of wait list notifications have been sent out yet. If the national waiting list has been filled up, or started to be, then it would stand to reason that the majority of appointments have been handed out, with the remainder being LOA type situations with pending nominations or what have you. Obviously I don't have an inside scoop on this, but the fact that most of the appointments on here are from late Feb. and earlier with the nominations tapering off after Feb. 29 would make me think that things may be winding down. If you really want to stress yourself out more you can check the previous years' appointment forum posts and see if there is a pattern as to when appointments slow down.

At the end of the day you turned in your packet, and now it is in the hands of the admissions staff. I know it's easy to say not to worry, but I'm a sophomore at UC Davis right now, so I did the whole college app dance before, and honestly try to chill out and enjoy your senior year of high school. You either get in or you don't, and if you do then fantastic, if not there are hundreds of great schools with great ROTC programs which will dump you out with the same commission you'll get at USMA and on top of that you can always apply again. As of this morning, 714 people have accepted their appointments to West Point.

The portal will change once to show that you have received an appointment. There will be an option to accept or decline. I'm not sure what happens if you decline because well...I accepted but it may change from year to year there's no way to actually know I guess

Thanks! My DS is amazingly calm about all of this. "icing on the cake" is how he describes if he were to make it into an Academy (didn't make USNA, but still waiting for USMA).
