When you receive your AROTC letter, post results here

Only his third choice was posted on the portal.

DS letter arrived. 3 Year Scholarship, 1st and 3rd Choice. Fordham University and University of Delaware. Great news. Good Luck to all.

I have a friend from High School doing NROTC at Fordham, although different from AROTC, he loves it. Talk to him daily comparing my AROTC battalion versus his NROTC battalion. :thumb: Fordham is a great and challenging school from what intel I have gathered from him. Although I can't speak that intelligently about the AROTC program there, Im sure its just as good, if not better than the NROTC.

Does she plan on participating in track in college ?

Yes, she would like to. The Head Coach at Pacific Lutheran has offered her a spot on both the track and cross country teams. The coach is also real good friends with the PMS at PLU as they run together, and visited his office after we met with her for a 2nd time last September to tell him about my daughter. She took part in PT when visiting and was exercising and running with the Alpha group leading the group back on their morning run. They indicated they would really like her there and she really likes the school so that is why it is her first choice for AROTC. She has been accepted into the school, but is still waiting for admission into the School of Nursing. We should hear about that soon. As far as we know, no scholarships have been awarded to the school as of yet from speaking with the ROO. Since the coach is good friends with the PMS and they practice at 6am she would be excused from PT during track and cross country season. Knowing my daughter she would find a way to get to both if possible. She has received $19000 in merit aid from the school so far so that would help to pay for her first year if she does not get a AROTC Nursing Scholarship now, and has to attend the school as a non-scholarship ROTC student. Sorry for the delayed response but a busy day at work and it was also our son's birthday. She is retaking the ACT this Saturday to try and get her scores up in case she gets reboarded. If she were to get a AROTC Scholarship to the school they do provide room and board coverage for ROTC scholarship recipients so it would essentially cost about $45 to go there as per what the ROO told us when we met with him.

He hasn't decided yet one over the other. According to the Fall 2012 Cost Comparsion list we have, Fordham University covers tuition, fees, room and board and University of Delaware covers tuition and fees. He will be following up with both schools to see if anything has changed. He also hasn't received his acceptance package from either school yet as he submitted regular decision. DS was extremely busy with his West Point application on top of his AROTC application. Currently awaiting for February 26 to come as this is when West Point will begin sending out their offers of admission also know as the BFE. He is 3QD with a Congressional Nomination. His AROTC portal only showed his 3rd choice. His letter stated a 3 yr scholarship to his 1st Choice, Fordham University and 3rd Choice University of Delaware. No doubt the out-of-pocket expenses at either school will play a major role in his decision making. All military personel at the ROTC schools he met with went above and beyond to explain their programs and battalion. They were extemely professional and outstanding. Tough decisions he has to make. But, this is his choice and his career path. We are just the proud parents of a young man who wants to serve his country.

2nd yr at Fordham AROTC and has lots of positives to report. The college provides free housing to AROTC recipients but food is on you. Normal meal plan is about $5200/year. Feel free to PM if you have questions

To Azmomm, for some reason I am unable to send you a PM. Tried twice and am having a difficult time. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

4 year to first choice school (only one listed in portal and in letter)--Texas Tech University

I believe you are not able to PM because you haven't reached the required minimum number of posts in order to have that functionality. I can't remember how many you have to have in order to PM, but I think you're getting close (if memory serves).

ernrun,
Good luck to your DD!! My DD is a Sophomore at PLU in ROTC. She absolutely loves it!!

Thanks. She has gotten pushed to the 3rd board as far as we know. Still hoping she gets something then.

Woohoo

Signed last night. Three year to Brockport. Had a great visit last year before chasing West Point. Was 3qed and secondary nomination. Already over 300 for AFPT as I get ready. Here I come.

MJC

So DS began his West Point application a year ago, his goal was to become an Army officer. Late in the summer WP admissions sent a letter closing his application due to one of 3 things, low test score, lack of leadership, low class rank, etc....

He applied for national ROTC Scholarship and has been re-boarded again (h. In the meantime he increased his act test scores and applied to a JMC in-state (which was actually his preference to attend with or without scholarship). He applied and was accepted to the school and applied for the AROTC program. Keep in mind he has made 3 trips to visit the school starting the spring of his junior year, had the PMS there do his official interview, and has been in contact with admissions, the ROO, and the PMS during the time frame.

Yesterday he received an e-mail from them offering him a 2 yr Early Commission Program scholarship. He immediately replied and after talking to the ROO had it changed to their ROTC 2+2 scholarship.(2yrs at the MJC and 2 yrs at a nearby 4 yr state university (which was his second choice to attend) to complete his tech. management degree. Scholarship is for 4 yrs full tuition and the schools pick up the room and board.

I got home last night, gave him a big hug, and he was off to church.

Point is, have plans, have back-up plans, and if you want something, stick with it. He is now on his way to achieve his goal of becoming an active duty officer in the US Army.

Congratulations to your DS!.

It may not have been his first choice, but his dedication to serve is admirable. I'm sure he will make a fine officer! It is not how he gets there, but that he gets there that counts.

Thank you

It's also what you do with it once you get there.

Like I told him, there's a lot of deserving kids out there that don't get this opportunity. Make sure you do something good with it.

Does anyone happen to know when the latest AROTC board results will be released? DS has received a type 7 AFROTC award, but is still waiting to hear from AROTC. Thank you!
