Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

I recently got a call from my state coordinator from West Point. She told me my chances of getting of the waitlist are probably not good. I have a 28 ACT, 4.2 GPA, top 7 percent of my class of 413 people, I received an award at WP SLE, Triple Q'd, extracurriculars are good (Founded and president of my schools FCA for three years, Football captain senior year, went to Boys State, active in my community, there's more but it would make it too long). I received an appointment from USAFA and waiting on Navy. The advice that I'm asking for is based on all of that should I continue to hold out for WP or move on to the other two SA's? I will say that West Point is my number 1 choice by far.
How is it possible that your chances of getting of the NWL are probably not good? As I learned every Triple Q'd candidate with a NOM are in NWL. Isn't it correct?

If WP is your #1 choice, then keep the faith. Why did your state coordinator say that? Having some clarity on that might help, but you can get an appointment up to the last minute, so don't throw in the towel just yet. Especially since you are still waiting on Navy anyways.
To clarify, She told me that my chances of getting off the waitlist are probably not good.

That doesn't make sense - you can't get 2 noms from one MOC. Can you clarify? Is it 1 nom from MOC and 1 nom from Senator?
Members of Congress (MOC) includes US Senators and Representatives. In this forum people tend to refer to their US Representative as their MOC, but a MOC nomination refers to both Rep or Senator. Someone referring to an MOC nom is specifying that it is not JROTC, Presidential, etc.

Is she a regional commander? I haven't heard of a state coordinator. Did you ask what part of your application would keep you from being appointed? I haven't heard of anyone getting a call like that and I can't think of what the reason would be.

To quote MissLiss5-oh "My son has 2 nominations from our congressmen and 1 from our senator..." So my question was how do you have 2 noms from 1 Congressman? Which was clarified. Thank you!

ERAU Prescott has a mechanical engineering program. Our DS is there now on a HSSP type one AFROTC scholarship. He will graduate with no debt and actually gets a little bit of his scholarship money back each semester too!
That is good to know! We're visiting ERAU soon and I've got questions about the financial side of things, as you can imagine! DS was awarded a Presidential scholarship, thankfully! Just not sure if ERAU will allow him to apply that to food/housing if AFROTC covers the tuition side of things.

They will! Our son got the Presidential in addition to the HSSP. We don't pay a dime out of pocket other than the initial $200 deposit to hold his spot. If, as an upperclassman he moves off campus, they will even give you a portion of that scholarship in cash (deposited directly into his bank account) to pay for off campus living.

What are your or your kids B,C,D.....plans if they aren't appointed this year?

My DS has been accepted into Norwich University engineering, University of Illinois engineering, and Cedarville University, with a few more that he's waiting to hear from. He has a presidential scholarship at Norwich and should be able to get a tuition waiver from UIUC for being in-state and participating in ROTC. It will be a tough decision between those two schools. He is waiting on the 2nd AROTC board to see if he can snag a scholarship. Adding in that scholarship should make his top two school choices free. Either way, his plans will be to reapply to USMA if he doesn't get in this year.
Mine would continue with his enlistment and go from there (currently enlisted, active duty).

Exciting News - DS Officially Received Appointment!

Dear Service Academy Forum Community,

I am thrilled to share the wonderful news that our DS (Dear Son) has successfully completed the waiting evolution of the appointment process and has officially received an appointment! We are overjoyed to announce that he will be accepting the appointment.

God bless America, and thank you once again for being a part of this incredible journey with us.
Amen!! Congratulations!

Only waiting on DoDMERB/waiver process right now! I got notified of my nomination a couple of days ago and got an LOA back in October. It's been exactly a year since I started this process. Hopefully, all goes well with my waiver.

Did the USMA State Rep tell you where you placed on your Slate? What congressional district are you in Ohio?
