January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

My DS's on-line AROTC status still says: "You have been selected for an interview. Please contact the Professor of Military Science at the school of your choice."
Do you suppose this means that CC has not been informed that DS's interview was in November?? I am about to climb into my car and DRIVE to Ft. Knox!!! :sofa:

No everyone's says that. It stays like that until you are awarded a scholarship or after the boards end

I wonder if CC has a list of the schools and updates them going off that list or If its just random?

I'm sure your son's will change shortly. If I remember correctly, he received an appointment to West Point. ROTC has got to follow as he's obviously an incredible young man.

Good luck again and I'll be waiting to see all the exclamation points again from you!!!!!

Based on what I learned, I know the order is definitely not alphabetical (by school name). Maybe just first in, first out.

Hell Yes!!!!

Just got my status updated on the Cadet Scholarship Application Status System to "You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite"

If you don't mind me asking, what colleges did you list on your application?

All I know is this has been such a ride. When I saw notifications were being updated and his had not changed yet- my stomach was doing flip flops and I am all shaky and it's crazy how it makes you feel even if you are trying so hard not to let it get the best of you! LOL. Road trip patentesq! Hilarious! But I completely get it.

Thank you, cjs. Yes, he's received appointments to USMA and USMMA. We are truly blessed. However, I have been urging him not to make any decisions until all the dust settles. I just never imagined that the dust would remain suspended in the air for such an indefinite period. Decisionmaking, though, is all about colllecting as much info as you can and making the decision within the period of time allotted.

My DS is in a bit of a different category than most here on SAF, because his ultimate objective is to be a military physician like my father was (for 34 years!!). In this regard, an AF flight surgeon does not appear to be much different from an Army or Navy surgeon (generally speaking). I know there are differences in terms individual assignments (service on USS Comfort vs. service at Walter Reed, etc.), but it's not like distinguishing between submarines, Apache helicopter pilot, or hanging out at a missile silo in North Dakota (VERY different experiences from a servicemember's perspective). If we are blessed with ROTC as an option, then he will have to decide his path. I know what he wants and is ready to execute on that, but I want him to make an informed decision before committing. Unfortunately, I couldn't get him interested in my alma mater, because while the pre-Infantry program at that school is GREAT, the pre-med program is not as strong as elsewhere. Sigh!!

I'm just incredibly proud that he wants to serve. Incredibly proud.

Our DS's school list -

Penn State
Clemson
College of Charleston
I can't say this for everyone that has had status changes but so far I think that most have been in the east. If not let me know because I'm on the west coast in Washington, waiting!

New at this board

I am new at this board, so forgive me if I do not use the right lingo.

My son is going to The Citadel next fall with or without a scholarship. However, he has applied for both Army and Marine scholarships. I have heard rumors that The Citadel has no more scholarships available in either category. Has anyone else heard this?

Welcome, ProudCitadelDad!!! The only way you'll know for sure is calling those units.
