January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

I can't wait to hear what everyone chimes in with! Good luck to those still waiting!!! Of course we still are waiting for word of type and location but how exciting none the less!

Clearly obvious depending on how much snow you like.

We can relate, my older son is tromping around in 10 inces of snow today, my younger son will be joining him next year, I guess we need to buy more snow shoes.

cowsort10,

I sent you a PM.

We are from Washington State as well.

We have one son already at University of Idaho, My younger son received the scholarship on the first board and is going to attend there as well.

Congratulations, You'll have to let us know where she decides to go.

In a galaxy far, far away

I saw a thread from last January's AROTC board and thought it would be a good distraction to start one for this year too.

Once again, hope to connect with others waiting.........

Thought it would be good on this momentous day to remember when we all began posting on this thread, knowing that we certainly have connected and that some are spinning from good news while others of us are just spinning our wheels, still. We are still hopeful knowing that CC really does exist and updates really do happen.

It amazes me how much information is here! I have been lurking this forum for 4 years! Posting some but not a lot but I will tell you that I have so much knowledge now of the process! I can't believe the time is almost up now and DS graduates in a few months. It seemed like yesterday he was joinging JROTC and I had no earthly clue what he was getting into. When he started speaking of USAFA and USMA and joining the military I knew I had to arm myself with some info. It has been an abundance of knowledge and I very much appreciate all the input from so many loyal members! Thank you Thank you~

He did everything he needed to do to get where he is and is lucky to have some options. I'm pretty proud of him. Of course it helps to have a supportive mother (family) :shake:

If your status has changed would it be ok to call the Battalions at your schools of intent and ask if you've gotten a scholarship there, or would they be forbidden to pass the infromation before you receive the offical CC offer letter?

Congrats to those who have seen a status change! Still sitting tight here in Kansas, but REALLY :biggrin:happy as I see the posts come through.

It really depends on the battalion and the ROO. We contacted the ROO from his #1 choice school after his status changed on the first board, he told us that he had received the 4 year at their school. He later that day sent an email saying they were not supposed to notify anyone untill it was official. Several of those that had their status change back then did get confirmation from their ROO's. It surely couldn't hurt to try, the worst they can say is that they have to wait to confirm anything.

I do understand the excitement, we contacted the ROO as soon as we saw the status change, it's hard not to after such a long wait.

Congratulations to your DS/DD, If it is anything like it was at our house, there will be a lot of Happy Dancing going on today.

Ok, I'll try and call my #1, see if I can get any info. Thanks for the insights.

I have a kid!

Looks like I lied on my AROTC ap then.

Sorry, I'm so used to seeing just parents on here this year I forget some of you are the actual applicants themselves. It's very refreshing to see you on here.

So....Congratulations to YOU!! I still have no doubt that the Happy Dancing is going on.

Let us know if you received the schools you were hoping for.

Hello all, I am new to posting on this site, though I have been watching this thread for weeks. I understand that some people's status' have changed, if mine has not, does this mean that I did not recieve a scholarship this board? I am in Virginia, do they update the website by region?
Also, a quick question for those who have recieved scholarships, would you mind letting me know what your grades, SAT's and extracurriculars are like?

I wouldn't be too concerned yet, it took a day or so for all the updates on the last board. There have been updates from all across the country today so I don't think it is being done by region.

My son received his offer on the first board, a rough list of stats are:

3.55 GPA u/w
24 ACT
NHS
Eagle Scout
3 yrs Varsity Cross Country Team Captain
3 yrs Varsity Track
Debate Team
Youth Court:
1 yr Juror
1 yr Head Juror
1 yr Judge (This Year)
2 years Senator Youth in Government
Editor in Chief School Annual
390 Community Service hours
Senior Leader Youth Group
3 Youth Group trips to Mexico to build houses
Presidential Service Award
Advanced Scuba Diving Cert
245 on the AFPT

I'm missing a few I'm sure but that's the basic list.

Good luck to you, what schools did you list on your application.

CONGRADULATIONS to all who have received the amazing news. So very pleased for all of you and look forward to hearing more details as they release the schools your kiddos have been given to chose from.

DS has not had a status change. Actually, he is not even aware that the results are being released. We literally just returned from his grandfather's funeral and wake and I just can't bring myself to give him any additional stress/unhappiness yet. Will keep the faith and check throughout tomorrow too just in case and give him a little time before dealing with the fallout.

Again, so glad the time has finally come to celebrate for so many:shake:

Take care.

I've been thinking of you all day. I'm so sorry to hear about the death in the family, thoughts and prayers are with you.
It can take days before everything is input into the system, may of us here have witnessed that. It was 11 am on a Saturday before my son's status changed so keep checking.

Relax tonight, it sounds like you need it and really deserve it.

Please accept our condolences, we wish you the best.

Keep the faith, the results from the last board did not come all at once, who knows with all the changes how long it will take to get all the results out this time. We all wish your son the best of luck.
