Okay, thanks again.
I received a Casio G-Shock for my birthday and absolutely love it.
And, it looks like they are creating a military-based line:

I got mine before I knew about the military ones:

Anyway, I love mine. Solar is useful, and it cannot be damaged (from what I've seen)
jBrown,
Hey that sounds great. I'm from NorCal too, how was the process for your daughter? I'm going to start very soon and I was just wondering what to expect. Any tips or advice? Who did your daughter get her nomination from? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious(and a little nervous).
There is a cookbook called "Brigade Seats" has recipes from King Hall and other special USNA occassions. You might be able to find it on Amazon or ebay. I have it and it has lots of cool ideas!
Thanks PackerMatt - I have no clue when it comes to picking out a watch - you've been a big help. I checked out the website. What do you think about the "bulkiness"?
Okay - We decided on the menu for the open house: Shrimp & Sausage Jambalaya & rice, cornbread, grilled chicken, meatballs, fruit bowl with melon and strawberries, veggie tray & dip, brownies, grapes, crackers & cheese, cake, iced tea, lemonade and water. FYI - We found an anchor paper punch at Michael's and then found two color (blue on one side and gold on the other) poster board and made anchor confetti out of that. My father (ex-submariner) had some signal flags that we are using as well in the decorations. If you want more particulars or decoration ideas, you can ask....just don't want to bore anyone with a long list. LOL. PMLutton helped me not to get carried away when she took me to the Mid Store!!!
I saw something on a thread last year about giving your plebe a certain kind of coat, a warmer version of the winter coat mids are issued...........perhaps some current mid moms will share info........
