Bacon Thread Potatoes...really?!?!
@Capt MJ, I honestly don’t know whether to curse you or praise you. Probably both. In spades.
Glad to hear the Amish Market is open. DD asked whether we’d come out for a visit in early November, since she’s not coming home for Thanksgiving. I don’t need any extra incentive to fly out, but knowing the Amish Market is open only makes me more eager to do so.
There must be a deep psychological issue there. We all have them. Is it the crust? Cooked fruit (that was a roadblock for me as a kid)?Oh good we are back to bacon. The pie diversion in the other thread had me nervous. I know this might result in me being banned... but I must confess... I dislike pie immensely, all of them.

What is your stand on a lovely cheddar and bacon pie with a buttery rich garlic crust? It’s got a quiche-like consistency.
Wrights is almost always the key with the bacon. Has anyone noticed its getting harder to find the higher meat to fat ratio when picking through a case of Wrights lately? Last time at Sam's i went through 2 cases before finding one that looked to have more red than white. I try to put the worst ones back on the bottom of the case so the next person doesn't have to dig as deep. But I did have a bacon, egg and cheese (and a touch of hot sauce) breakfast sandwich this morning and it was delicious. Wright’s was the key!
If you were tailgating, would grilled scamorsa and thick porcini mushrooms, both drizzled with olive oil from an old Neapolitan jug, be a fit for your game day food? And since @THParent deems prosciutto permissible on the Bacon thread, would figs wrapped in prosciutto also work? I wish I could just sneak around the stadium to see what people are ginning up. I'd probably miss the game sampling everything and catching up with friends.Making good luck pancakes for Navy football game today: spiced McIntosh apple and bacon pancakes, with, of course, a side of bacon. I wish we could be tailgating, with hot spiced fresh-press cider and other game day food.
Ooh yes. Met friends for drinks last night (socially distanced, of course ). We ordered dates wrapped in bacon and run under the broiler for a bit. Delicious. They came with a sauce. Still wondering why I’d want to taint the bacon with a sauce.

Since then, we've learned that they can be stuffed with various cheeses. They make a fantastic addition to a charcuterie board.
