USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

I just want to say how impressed with the attitudes I'm seeing here from those who received a TWE today. Today isn't great, we understand that. It's been a long road for you and your families, and this part of the journey is over. BUT the best news is you have a new journey to look forward to, and from the sounds of it-- you have great options moving forward.

For some, that may include reapplying.
Not today, but sometime before summer reach out and ask what you can do to improve if reapplying is in the cards for you.

Good luck to each of you in your next endeavor.

As I think about it... can you accept both ? I don't know enough about USMMA to know what commitment you have, but accepting USNA waitlist doesn't bind you to anything. If you accept both, I would anticipate you could decline USMMA if you get accepted to USNA. Couldn't hurt to ask USNA Admissions Counselor whether that is acceptable.
Great advice---I think the best option would be if he could accept both for now and see what happens w/USNA. He is a 3rd time applicant--Dad, Aunt, & cousin are all USNA grads. 1st time applicant to USMMA--it sounds like an amazing school and an incredible experience with the Sea Year. Tell your kids to not give up if they really want to go to a SA! May not get it the first time around (or 2nd) but there's tremendous growth, reflection, and self motivation with a rejection (or 2). It hurts but they do get over it and get on with life.

as

UIUC, one of the few bright spots in IL. Have fun. Yes, I've lived in Chicago for 20+ years.
Right? He was actually looking to go OOS - just to leave but he just can’t pass up this opportunity 💙🧡. Thankfully there will be plenty of opportunities to leave once he’s finished 😉.....

I don't have a nomination due to being in an extremely competitive district but have not been rejected yet. Is it still possible?

My DS has had a good and bad day today. He got the dreaded USNA TWE email this afternoon, but he received word that he has been awarded an AFROTC scholarship this morning! That has definitely blunted the sting of the TWE! His plan 2A is awesome! He will attend Virginia Tech for Engineering and do Corps of Cadets with, most likely, his AROTC scholarship he got in the 1st Board in October. Now only waiting for final word from USAFA and he can move forward.

I was in your situation last year. NAPS is a possibility, but you can't be appointed to the USNA without a nomination.

Seriously impressed by the attitudes of those who have gotten TWEs so far. Don’t know if I’d be able to keep my chin as high as you guys have. Just a little side note to you guys before I find out what my own fate is: Regardless of how we get there, I am excited to serve as an officer beside each and every single one of you. This process has been tough, especially this year, and whatever route we end up taking and whatever branch we end up joining, it will be the honor of my life to serve among you. You guys give me hope in our generation.

DS, a college re-applicant, also received a TWE today. It is particularly disappointing, considering that he followed through with all of the specific re-applicant advice (and far beyond) from both USNA Admissions and the threads on this Forum.

On the bright side, he will continue pursuing his engineering degree at his current school with NROTC (which he absolutely loves) on scholarship and (should) commission as an Ensign in another three years - instead of starting over this summer.

Thanks to all on the Forum for your contributions and sage advice. Fair winds and following seas to all who are looking forward to the future in this exciting time!

The thing is on the waitlist letters, it says something around 1360 offers are given out. So expect another 30-40 to be given out today and tomorrow. Some of them maybe Waiver’s but some can be full appointments.
For all those interested in the 2025 admissions numbers shared by USNA, here is the text from the Wait List FAQ portion of the letter:

This year the United States Naval Academy (USNA) received over 16,000 applications for the Class of 2025. The candidate pool was among the most competitive ever, and the Admissions Board recommended a near record number of candidates for appointment. We have offered appointments to approximately 1,364 of those students; we expect 1,170 students to accept our offer and enroll at USNA. If fewer than 1,170 students accept our offer, we will then offer admission to additional students who have been put on our Wait List.

I also got a TWE, my university doesn't have a NROTC unit so I'm going to put the whole military career dreams away for the time being. It's been a blast going through this process and I wish the best to everyone else still waiting for an answer.
@krabbypatty, I did a stint in the Naval Recruiting Command working in the Officer Programs Office back when. The universities where we recruited did not have NROTC. Many college graduates came through our satellite office and eventually went to Officer Candidate School and earned a commission. The Navy will always need good people. Do well in your undergraduate studies, and if the desire to serve still burns, consider coming back to the sea service in the future. Good luck to you.

DS also received TWE today. Not sure what it actually takes to get an appointment at this point. Looking forward to UIUC and reapplication next year. Good luck to all!
I’m sorry - it sure stings.... will your son join the NROTC program? Our DS will be - even as a Programmer if needed. Maybe they end up running into each other!

My stepson received a TWE today as well (also at 2:03pm). While we are all disappointed, we are happy to now have a decision and to start taking positive steps forward on Plan B with NROTC at LSU (crosstown at Southern University). Still waiting for the NROTC scholarship decision. I've really appreciated this forum and all of you wonderful people. Good luck to you and your children as you move forward down your chosen paths!
