Same with my son.Falcon Foundation Waitlisy
We're probably talking past each other (and for the record, I have no personal knowledge of the stats of anyone receiving an appointment, so it's not about what has worked for me or anyone else; all I know is what USAFA reports). I don't disagree with taking and retaking the SAT. The higher the better, by all means. My point is that I'm dubious that academics is always the obstacle to an appointment. Leadership, athletics/CFA, interviews, commitment to military service, etc. are all relevant. All that said, you may have better knowledge than I do on the topic. It is one simple test that would take 4 hours of time to retake and add to that a dozen hours of prep that gets you to a level that actually stands out. After polishing your academic credentials if you then focused on your "weak" spots, your overall application (adding in the favorable effort of a reapplication) may turn the tide.
It makes no sense to me that there is an idea that 1400 is good enough. Those 1300s are probably the candidates that are superpowered elsewhere. The nationally ranked athletes etc. (I am not saying that our D1 athletes can't be tippy top students) Staying with a 1400 may have worked for you this time and you may have an appointment but it's easier IMHO to spend that 16 hours to have that pillar stand out than go become a national ranked athlete.
Did you reach out to admissions? Today was the notification date according to the candidate booklet.I still haven’t gotten anything. Did I do something wrong?
That’s a good idea. I think I will wait a few more hours and then email them. Was there a specific time to be notified by?Did you reach out to admissions? Today was the notification date according to the candidate booklet.
I heard 1pm MST. Which was about 45 minutes ago. That’s a good idea. I think I will wait a few more hours and then email them. Was there a specific time to be notified by?
Oh boy alright I just emailed them. Thank you for your help.I heard 1pm MST. Which was about 45 minutes ago.
You may value that higher but in a Whole Person Multiple or Whole Candidate Score type system that I'm familiar with, it is the highest score that is "counted" and there aren't additional points for "one and done".Personally, I would value a 1430 on the first try more than a 1580 on the fifth try with a super score.
There are probably many candidates who have a 1580 on one try. So it's not just an either/or scenario. The fact is that no one except admissions knows how each candidate compares with one another. There are so many amazing students with high gpas, high test scores, leadership, athletics, etc. And that's the point--there are MANY candidates that fit this profile. There are too many qualified candidates for the number of spots, and is seems to be true for the service academies, competitive liberal arts colleges and state flagships.Personally, I would value a 1430 on the first try more than a 1580 on the fifth try with a super score.
Good Luck!!Oh boy alright I just emailed them. Thank you for your help.
Do you plan on getting added to the waitlist? (If you don’t mind me asking)Falcon Foundation Waitlisy
They said to “hang in there, decisions are still being made.” That’s good news to me but boy is this waiting excruciating!!Good Luck!!
I would say maybe! I believe everyone has until May 1st to accept or decline their appointments, so you may hear something after May 1st. If someone declines sooner, you may hear before then! But this is a good thing!can someone help me on what falcon foundation waitlist entails and if there's a real chance to get off of it?
