I have no idea. I'm thinking we'll consult with her BGO (who has been wonderful) and the ROTC folks. I would think NROTC would want to fill that spot with someone else. But, I don't know for sure.

He is not scholastically qualified since his BGO says that his grades are what is making them extend the appointment so readily.

Does anyone know how to find out if someone is waitlisted? Our BGO is non-approachable, do they let the candidates know(USNA) via letter? Also, Has anyone heard anything negative yet, such as the dreaded TWE? (Thin White Envelope)? Just curious, son needs to move quickly w/ other college plans and trying to hold out as long as possible....Thanks all!! Have a TERRIFIC THURSDAY!! Every day that is a mail delivery day has the potential to be a GREAT day for those of us still waiting!! :biggrin:

I'm a little confused by this post. hockeymom32, would your son consider NAPS? If academics are a problem, NAPS might be an option. If so, I would let BGO and Regional Director know this ASAP.

Unfortunately, if he is not found scholastically qualified, he will not be considered for an appointment, even on a "wait-list."

harmi, I'm guessing the wait list thing doesn't come into play just yet. And the TWE's are probably not rushing through the mail yet either.

As far as your other college plans, try to contact them and explain. USNA is bound by law to work through the nomination process, something other schools don't have to contend with. Why not accept one of the back up plan schools.......I'd advise doing so even if an offer from USNA arrives at your mailbox today. Then, if situations change for any of a million reasons, you are still on track with a back up plan.:thumb:
 
Yes - we have told BGO that he would definitely attend NAPS. So - why on wait-list if they think not scholastically qualified...why not just rejection letter...

Don't know. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? I would be struggling very hard with calling USNA Admissions directly and asking! In fact, that's exactly what I would do.......or have son do!

How does this work now, to secure a nomination, if you didn't already have one? Does USNA find you one?

Was wondering the same thing, Shortmom....hmmm...kind of curious since noms are submitted....:smile:
 
I was wondering about that too, seems late for an LOA--Maybe the LOA's were issued for other reasons, ie, they have a nom, but are waiting for medical clearance?
 
In DD classmates case candidate did not secure MOC nomination. He is now being "recruited" by water polo.

Some folks don't know who we are charged to -- we received more than one nomination and weren't told which one it is charged to.
 
not sure I want to call admissions office...I would feel that bugging them about it. I am sure they get tons of calls....I am just hoping that no news is good news.
Doesnt look like anyone from MA is on appointment list.
