2014 Appointment Thread

Keep the faith. Remember this thread has only 50 "names" on it. That means that 1000 plus appointments are still out there. One may have your name on it -- I hope.
 
To think it was only a few months ago the term DoDMERB seemed like such a strange and amusing word. And now checking DodMERB is part of my daily routine.

First, a very sincere congrats to all those who have received their appointments!

For those still waiting... it appears more than half of those first 50 had LOA's...

USNA is also buried under a historic 3 feet of snow! This must be slowing down the appointment process. The federal government was completely shut down for 4 days this week and Monday is a federal holiday.

Good things come to those who wait.

Thanks Shortmom...needed to hear that...was wondering since the Academy has actually closed classes 3 days this week, was the admission process stalled as well? Anybody know? I assumed it would be....
 
I called I believe on Tuesday regarding my son's STEM application (it went through but he didn't get confirmation so we were checking to see if it actually had been sent to them) and the person I spoke with did tell me that they were running behind and a lot of people weren't in due to the snow - and that they were expecting quite a bit more (snow) that evening. So I think the people able to get to work are doing what they can, but it may be causing some delays overall.
 
yes...that was what I was thinking...maybe next week will be a fruitful mail week for many!!! :thumb:
 
My son is one patiently waiting. As I look out my window and see 4 ft. of snow and mountains of plowed snowed, I realize the wait may take longer than expected. Hoping this snow melts before his High School graduation!

Still waiting here as well. My son said to me yesterday, "Look mom there is lots of game left. We are just now getting to the top of the 7th and anything could happen so I wish you would just be more patient". I will try. Fellow "usna mailbox team" moms and dads, you guys help keep me sane! I know all the parents who currently have midshipman and the bgo's are trying to be helpful, and I greatly appreciate all the answers they provide, but I fear they are shouting into the wind when they tell us to relax. (Though I will admit that some of them have the reasoning of Aristotle and the determination of Demosthenes!)

Hang in there, and don't stop posting!! Whatever the outcome here, remember we have a GREAT bunch of kids...the future of America looks bright when I think of them!!

I agree!! There really is nothing we can do but sit back and wait(BUT I WON'T RELAX!!!!...LOL)...although, it is not easy, that's for sure!! AND, no matter the outcome, I am sure our sons and daughters will be successful in whatever road they travel!! It is good, however, that we are all on the same page!! Looking for USNA Appointments from MA

My son received his nomination from Congressman in beginning of Jan from MA - district 10. he is medically and physically qualified (no letters), but unfortunately his transcript may be hindering decision. I hear from BGO that he may be on a "stand-by" list...whatever that means...Is anyone in the same boat ? Or has anyone from MA got an appointment to USNA ?
 
hockeymom, have you found out if your son is scholastically qualified? I hadn't received a letter, but I had him email his Regional Director, asking about his scholastic qualification. He received an email stating that he was scholastically qualified, which was just one less then to wonder about while we're waiting.

If you don't mind my asking, what do you mean that his transcript might be the hinderance? Have they not received his most recent transcripts, or do you think there is a problem with his transcript? Please don't feel compelled to answer if you are not comfortable doing so!

Congressman called son yesterday, and DoDMERB status changed to "offer extended". I'm still in shock that the time has come when I'm able to add him to this list! Son alternates between jubilant and contemplative about the major step this appointment represents in his life. :biggrin:
