Next Navy QB!!!

This guy is the real deal - PA state champion QB. From my hometown.

My plebe class had FOUR Parade Magazine All-American QBs, in the days before USA Today, this was pretty much as much national rank as there was and certainly no more than one from a state/region. Of the four, just two ever made first string varsity at USNA and only one did it as a QB.

That said, I hope he continues to wow 'em at USNA and gets himself a sweater full of stars.

... so here's the PA Football Records.
* Most touchdown passes and counting: 147 Alex Erby
* Most passing yards and counting: 11,287 Alex Erby.
------+---------+-----------+
He will be competing against the current Plebe QB Braxton Woodson and Sophomore QB Blake Horvath. Tai is graduating. More than likely, Erby will be third in the depth chart. Even with his passing records, there are holes in the Offensive Line when playing against quality opponents. If he starts, the game will resemble like Coach Prime's Colorado team.

What I love the most about him is not his individual talent, but the winning football culture that he is coming from and what that can add to the Navy team.
I grew up in this town. It is a small “A’” class school with a +/- 100 kid graduating class that beats Class AAAA and higher schools in basketball and football in Pennsylvania on a regular basis.
This town is the Pennsylvania version of Friday Night Lights. You could rob it blind on a Friday night because all 10,000 people were at War Veterans Memorial Field for the Rollers game.
They have an unbelievable chip on their shoulder because of their small school size and a history of achievement that they are expected to uphold.
I have very hopes for Alex and what he can achieve.

Curious, is Erby a direct recruit or NAPS bound first?

Single “A” in pa is really low division. It’s not like St Joesph’s prep 6 “A” that won state championship a hour ago.
Terry Bradshaw, and many others, would like to have a word with you. ;)

Funny, but Terry won in 3 “A” not 1 “A”. Who knows how many “A” there were in the 60’s. It’s like playing division 3 vs division 1 college. 9th grade team vs varsity team for high school in PA. Hey, I hope I’m wrong but I remember playing varsity basketball in 9th grade and changed school districts and went from a varsity team being a leading scorer to a last two minute bench player on a 9th grade team. Big wake up between divisions of single “A” and six “A”. Hope he can rise and beat Army.

A is for the state championship playoffs.

Their regular season is in Mid-Penn District 3 where they were also undefeated.

Here's their District 3 record this past year:

Hope he does good. Just still hasn’t played a winning record team above 3A. Two of the teams had three wins between the two of them.

He is rated as a three star recruit which is pretty good for Navy but not overwhelmingly high and there have been 3 star recruits in the past.

NAPS had a strong QB this year as well. Looking ahead, the QB room at Navy will be a crowded one, and that's a great thing. Rising tides...
Go Navy!!

It’s hard to predict any incoming recruit, especially at USNA. We run such a system offense, learning those nuances is always a challenge. Between NAPS and directs we bring in more recruits than other non-SA D1 teams. It’s why the NCAA allows exceptions for SA recruiting timelines and roster size. Adjusting to D1 sports, USNA plebe year and academics is a challenge. Some respond better than others. It’s actually why NAPS is such a great year for many, but especially athletes (and especially football and our offense).

The "Prep" has like 8-10 power 5 recruits, and a LB heading to West Point.

Navy has to get some consistency/chemistry from the QB position. Lots of injuries, but coaches seemed to flip guys in and out as well.
